Hi there,
My DH and I are planning a trip to Alaska this summer. We would like to avoid taking a cruise primarily because they don't seem to offer much time in any given port, or if they do we can't afford them. We're thinking of focusing more on the interior.
Any tips or tricks for getting around Alaska, things to see, or things to avoid?
TIA!

Re: Tips for Alaska vacation?
If you're thinking about driving, I'd suggest looking at an RV or camper so you can be flexible and have everything you need where you need it. Pick up the magazine called "Milepost" as it has tons of information on the towns, roads, things to do and watch out for.
What types of activities are you looking to find?
Interior Alaska is completely different from what you would see on a cruise. It's beautiful, but you might drive a few hours without seeing anything at all, depending on where you want to go.
