Grammy Awards
Did anyone see the Grammys lastnight? Is that the plural spelling? Grammys or Grammies? Eh, oh well.
I saw the whole thing - except for switching back and forth a few times during performances I didn't want to see (Eminem, mostly). Thinking back, I think I only saw them give out like 4 awards! What's the deal?! It was just performance after performance, it's like there's no award portion to the show anymore! There were several great performances (i.e. DMB, I love that song!) but I was really disappointed about the show as a whole. Anyone else?

I didn't watch live, but saw all of the performances on YouTube yesterday. The Drake/Lil Wayne/Eminem was my favorite...and I'm not really a rap fan, but I LOVE Drake (I used to watch him on Degrassi The Next Generation when he was a kid
). Pink was awesome, Beyonce was great. When she busted out with Alanis Morissette I died! I wish Alanis had actually come out and sung with her.
I was really disappointed in the Stevie Nicks/Taylor Swift combo. I feel like they could have done so much more with that. Like Stevie Nicks really wanted to sing "You Belong with Me"...seriously? I love Taylor, but her songs and fame don't begin to compare to Stevie's!
I agree that MJ's kids seem uncomfortable. I think there is so much interest in them because he kept them so hidden. I feel so bad for them, losing their dad and then having to deal with his infamy.

I saw some, I was switching back and forth and kind of falling asleep though...
I couldn't agree more with the Taylor Swift/Stevie Nicks performance. I was actually embarrassed for Stevie Nicks, such a talented and accomplished singer with YEARS of fame and great songs under her belt, singing something so... dumb. I also don't think Taylor Swift deserved the album of the year. I think the Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and DMB albums were all better than hers. I guess I just don't get the Taylor Swift love... she has a pretty good voice, she's cute and has a great success stroy, but her song writing is just painful.
And ditto to MJ's kids. They looked SO uncomfortable! I felt bad for them. He definitely sheltered them from the spotlight, so I can't imagine how hard it is for them to be thrust into it after his death.
I thought Pink's preformance was really good and I was happy that Kings of Leon won a bunch of awards. I love them!
