Have you tried making your dog's food? It is kind of a pain, but I had to do it since one of my dogs is apparently allergic to commercial dog food. I usually make a big batch of some kind of meat (boiled chicken, ground turkey, hamburger), with a grain (brown rice is a really good one) and veggies (cooked carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkin puree etc) mash it all together and give them 1/2 a cup twice a day (they are little though, your dog might need more). My one dog was so lethargic, threw up everything he ate, and hasn't had any issues since we started this with him. I have to admit, since becoming preggers I have been slacking on this, and have been substituting homemade food with this
http://www.delifreshpet.com/index.htm it's a little pricey, but doesnt have the same negative effects on him that the regular stuff does. I buy it at Petco in the refrigerated section. Just a suggestion to get the pup back on his paws. Good luck!
Re: ***Lori***
Thanks for the info!!!
Part of me thinks she's being really picky-we just changed her food a few weeks ago and she was fine. I did put the oatmeal with her dog food and she ate the whole thing, so... I'm not entirely sure. It might just be too hard for her, though-since she's old. I was hoping to do rice, but it was MIA in the house (grocery shopping this eve). She is eating the treats and they're 'hard'.
Will look into it. We did make a dog toothpaste for her a few months ago and that was quite interesting. It's almost time for her checkup, too.
