Just saw "Food Inc."

And now I only want to buy grass fed beef and free range chicken. And I only want to buy local meats.

My DH is not on board with paying $10/lb. for ground beef though.

Sometimes I feel like I am easily swayed.... after I saw "The Business of Being Born" I swore I'd have a med-free birth the second time around and I would really question my OB about inducing, lol.

I'm going to try to do this though. Does anyone know if Wegmans has grass fed beef? I've never looked.

Re: Just saw "Food Inc."

  • I've seen that movie, it's quite interesting!!
  • I just saw this too, and feel the same way you do. I'm not sure about Wegman's~but I know whole foods sells the "free range" meats. I just went there today to buy some. It really wasn't that expensive. Well worth it in my opinion. My LO may have a milk allergy, so starting from last week, we have to watch what foods she eats and be much more conscious of how something is made and what certain foods have in it. After watching that documentary, I'm going to start doing the same for us and even more so for my daughter, who I feel like if I can start her this young with more "healthy" meats(as in grass fed, non steriod injected) than maybe she won't have some of the health problems that are so common anymore.
  • I haven't seen that yet but was just talking about it today.   I don't shop at wegmans so I can't help there.  I do shop at WF though and they have a decent selection of grassfed meat.  I would also recommend checking out your local farmer's market during the spring and the reading terminal market.  I buy local whenever possible and try to eat in season.
