Monday confession

I've spent the last week fantasizing about quitting my job without having a new one to go to.

Re: Monday confession

  • I used to do that all the time.  It was second only to my fantasy of getting a fantastic new job and bragging about it as I quit, barely giving a week's notice!

Trust me, though, the reality of not having employment doesn't live up to the fantasy!

  • Hey, some days I fantasize about getting knocked up so when I have the kid I don't have to come here and no one would call me for 4 months, despite the fact that I know it wouldn't be a vacation.

But knowing these guys, they'd expect me to bring my computer home and still work. I freaking need a new job.

  • Deep down, I realize the reality of unemployment sucks. I think it's just exacerbated now because DH has been off for a few days and will be off all week till he starts his new job. So... I get up early and go to work while he's still sleeping all soundly... I'm tired all day, he's well-rested. He gets to go do errands during the day, go for a run in the morning, etc. I'm insanely jealous.

Last night I almost took down the "number on the screen" when an advertisement for culinary school came on.

Well culinary school is infinitely better than practicing law!  And I will say that getting out of a truly toxic job is worth some job search trauma.  Even with the stress of temping and looking for permanent work now, I'm still happier than working for my former bosses.

    Hope things improve!
