Need new door hardware! Who knew it was so expensive!?
I went shopping to replace all of the door knobs and door hinges in our house (20 total) and HOLY MOLY door knobs are so freakin' expensive. I'm looking to get rid of the builder gold knobs and replace with oil rubbed bronze knobs.
Any recc's on a "discount/overstock" place?
Re: Need new door hardware! Who knew it was so expensive!?
Oooh, oil-rubbed bronze sounds nice. We just replaced everything with the brushed nickel finish stuff that was not much more expensive than the cheap builder stuff. It does make a big difference to get rid of the builder gold. Ew.
Sorry, no recs though!

Good idea! I nearly fell over when I saw the prices at Home Depot.
Can you do that?! Is there a "oil rubbed bronze" looking spray paint?
You haven't been to my house... a have a few different examples.
There is definitely oil-rubbed bronze (ORB) spraypaint for metal. It will probably only buy you a year or two on the handles, but it may completely negate the hinge issue.
WalMart has Krylon ORB spraypaint. The color looks dark on the lid but it turns out great. I'm not sure how it would last on metal, though. Home Depot has a few options for ORB finishes for metal/ brass. Stick with a darker color- if you go too brown it will look more brown than ORB- which is pretty dark with gold lights in the sun.
Thanks! I'm sharing the info w/ DH and trying to convice him to paint 20+ doorknobs!
ditto this. i want to replace all of ours too and i found some fo the best prices on ebay. you can buy lots of like 10 knobs, etc. that can be priced good
