Stripping membranes sounds rather unpleasant.
Hang in there, sbp! I know it sucks at the end. (Pitocin also sucks, BTW).
I'll be keeping you in my thoughts, hoping you have some contractions soon.
P.S. The night I went into labor, I had Thai spicy eggplant for lunch, and a fairly bland dinner. I totally think the eggplant did it.

and, seriously, try to enjoy the last of your child-free time - - in a little while, you'll miss it terribly and spend a lot of time wondering why you wanted the child to come sooner!

Ugh, I'm sorry SBP (and happy birthday Mr. SBP!).
I still have several weeks to go, supposedly, although I had a routine appt last Friday and apparently I am showing signs of early labor and am 3 cm dilated and 50% effaced (10 cm means you are completely dilated and that baby is on its way out, 100% effaced means the cervix has thinned out completely to let the baby out - sorry if this is TMI). My dr said 'well you'd better pack your bags and make sure you know where you're going - I think we'll be seeing you again soon."
So...I was totally NOT expecting that. I'm going back today and we'll see what they say today. You can definitely walk around in this condition for weeks and not deliver, but then again, you can also go into labor any minute, basically. So, we're on sst-watch at the moment. I'm just hoping it holds out for one more week, please! My shower is next weekend and DH is in the middle of a huge and important case right now, so hopefully sst will hang in there for a little longer!
Yeah and we totally haven't decided on names yet. I have a feeling it's going to be a last-minute thing.
Well, we have two boy names and two girl names in mind, plus some possible middle names. The thing is, one of the boy names is my dad's name - it's a name I love and I like the idea of naming after my dad, but it would cause some MAJOR family issues (lots of unpleasant history between my mom and dad). So I'm not sure I want to deal with that. Still up in the air about it.
Also not sure about middle names either. I would love to use my grandfather's name as a middle name but it's not exactly the best name, so I'm not sure if this kid would hate us forever for using it.
