Yay!
We have finally been recognized as married and given our anniversary board by the Nest Gods. I'm thrilled to have a "grown-up" place to stay in touch with you all. And.... I suppose our first anniversaries are coming up! So... what are all of your plans?
N and I are currently living in the Middle East, which is already a destination in and of itself. Because we're still waiting on our residence permits, we can't travel (I was really hoping to go to Cyprus, darn), but we are planning on spending the day at the beach/pool of a hotel, going out to an amazing Lebanese restaurant for dinner, and ending with a reserved table at a piano bar. Sounds nice to me!

Uhm no. Seriously, dinner and a bottle of wine, maybe. Our power went out for four days and spoiled everything in the fridge so our cake is probably not safe to eat. But hey whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?
Oct - are you still planning on moving to Ohio?
Venice - enjoy DC, I miss that city! If you need any recommendations for places to eat, things to do, etc., just let me know.
Busty - be thankful your cake "spoiled." According to everything I've read, eating a year-old cake (unless it's a fruitcake) is a nasty, nasty experience. Use this as an excuse to go out to a restaurant and eat a slice of freshly baked cake, mmmm.
Ohio, here we come!
We'll be heading to the general Cleveland area (hopefully) in the early summer. Todd just has to take his OH Praxis exams to get his teaching license and he'll be set to start looking. He already has his masters, which should give him an edge compared to the rest of the competition, since it isn't a license requirement in OH like it is here in NY. I should be able to get an insurance job with no problem, for reasons I won't even bother getting into. So then its just a matter of us finding a rental (we want to wait to buy until we get a feel for all the different areas).
I'm really excited... my family is out there, the people are nice, and I've just been really soured on this area lately due to some recent "life experiences." We're ready for a change.
Hey, don't hate. We paid a lot of money to rent those unicorns.
Aaaaactually we're going away this Sunday to Maine. Camping 6 nights and staying in an Inn for the last three, coming back on our actual anniversary. Then we'll be unpacking, ordering chinese, and eating some gross frozen cake, I believe.
Heather, any good news on DH's job hunt? I'm jealous of (and happy for) your Ohio venture. I wish we had the balls to up & move away from NYC.
Unfortunately, no. It looks like he is just going to be coaching and doing per-day subbing for the first half of the year. He is hoping to get a long-term sub position for the second half of the year though... there is one supposedly opening up at the school where he coaches. Its probably better that he won't be doing something full-time... if he actually liked it I'm sure we wouldn't move over the summer.

We are going on a cruise to Cozumel for our one year. We are super excited and can't wait!

We are keeping things pretty low key. We have a house remodel that we need to undertake before we can move in so we figure its best to hold off on any trips or anything like that right now.
