Thinking ahead to Valentine's day?

What are your plans for Valentine's day?

I'm not sure what to do.  I was thinking of getting a special little cake or something but since Valentine's day is on a Sunday, that doesn't leave much time for sneaking around :)

Re: Thinking ahead to Valentine's day?

  • We stopped celebrating Valentines day a long time ago. No cards, flowers, nothing.

I'm sure when/if we have kids we'll do little special things for them but nothing crazy. We prefer our own holidays, the day we met, our wedding anniversary and things like that to really make those days stand out. Those are our special days of extra love ;o)

  • DH and I are going to the Dinosaur Barbecue in Syracuse.  He loves BBQ and drools at Food Network and all the BBQ shows out there so I suggested we do that.  Not that Syracuse is far but we never go there, and I've never been to Dinosaur before.  I bought him a card a while ago, but that will probably be it-we really don't need any gifts...maybe I'll get him a couple Reeses PB cups, he loves them :)

  • We're having Lucie baptized that morning, and we're having family over for lunch, so I was planning on making just a nice quiet dinner at home.  I have some filet mignon I think I might attempt to not burn Smile
  • We dont usually do anything too special either.  Personally, I hate Valentines day so thats fine by me.  We are planning on going out to lunch as a family and taking Emma to see the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie.
  • Our first year together we did the fancy dinner out, and since then we have just taken it as an excuse to buy some really nice steaks and cook an indulgent meal at home.  We love cooking together, so it's way cheaper than going out, and we have fun.  We just started talking about planning a yummy menu, but haven't thought of anything too specific yet.

  • We are going to an early dinner to One Caroline Street.  We are not exchanging gifts this year since our cruise is coming up so soon and the shopping in the Caribbean is soooo much better!
  • We will exchange cards and in the past he's sent my flowers at work although since Valentine's Day is on a Sunday, I'm not sure what he will do.  We don't do gifts since his birthday is the week after Valentine's Day and he's so hard to buy for as it is.  We both hate crowds so we've stayed in the last few years.  Maybe we will do a nice dinner on Friday night or something like that but that is about it.  I'll probably just make a nice dinner Sunday night for us.

  • We don't do anything, but I might do something for or from Ryan this year

  • We have never really done anything either although last year DH surprised me with the choc. covered apples from Edible Arrangements.  Normally we just grab a pizza and 1/2 moon cookies for dessert (my favorite).

This year we are celebrating my sister's bday on vday which means mom is making lasagna which will be nicer than going out cause you won't get rushed for other people waiting and we can have as big of portions as we want.  with Ice cream cake for dessert!

  • We don't celebrate Valentine's Day.  We're very "bah humbug" about it just b/c it's a Hallmark holiday.

We'll be going to the hockey game and having our normal relaxing Sunday at home =)

  • I am a hopeless romantic so i love V-Day!

I am going to take DH to breakfast at a new little hotspot i found after church. Then i think we are going to see Valentine's Day in the theatre and then cook dinner at home.

  • My favorite piano palyer is coming to Troy on 2/12 so we are going to that concert (our first date night since becoming parents) and we're going to binghamton on the 13th...so prob ust hanging at home on the 14th.

  • The SAturday night before DH is cooking my favorite meal- grilled cheese and tomato soup. He uses Wegmans rosemary olive-oil bread and 3 kinds of cheese. To die for!

On V-day we're going to a wine and chocolate pairing tasting- yum! That's in the afternoon, so we'll probably just cook something together at home.
