My elbow is not broken.

But I do have "internal swelling around the nerve."

Basically its going to hurt like a son of a biatch for a few weeks, then its going to get better.  I'm supposed to "rest" my elbow.  I told the lady I have a 3 month old, so we'd see how that goes.  She said they just tell everyone that but it probably doesn't matter since you can't really rest an elbow.

  • At least it's nothing serious!  Here's to hoping you heal quickly!!

Agreed!  Glad it's not broken or anything else major.  Hopefully the swelling goes down and you'll be back to new soon!

  • Well that's good that you went to the doctor and took care of it.

I think I might have done the same thing you did in November but I was too lazy to go to the doctor.  It was bad and I couldn't turn my elbow for a few days without some major pain (yes I know I should have gone to a dr).  I think it took about 4 - 6 weeks before it felt 100% again.  I ended up using an elbow brace which helped me feel better.

  • Thats good news! Arent there like Elbow support things you can wear so it doesnt put a ton of strain on it??? Like those knee things people wear, Isee football players wearing them...I dunno...just a thought.
  • So glad to hear it's nothing major!  I got a good giggle out of trying to figure out how to rest an elbow.

  • Glad to hear that it isn't broken.  From now on slipper socks only!

    And triple that!

  • Thanks ladies! Agent, good idea, I might look into that and see if that helps any.

  • Glad it's not broke.  I'd imagine that be a real PIA with an infant.  Def try that brace thingy.  My DH had hurt his elbow and got one of those (they have them at like walmart and drugstores) and said it helped so much.
  • Glad it's not broken!! And ~Get better FAST Vibes~ headed your way!!

  • Hope it feels better soon!  How exactly do you rest an elbow?

  • Phew!  Glad it isn't anything serious though I am sure it still hurts like a mofo.  Rest it as best you can!  Hope it heals quickly.
  • Glad its not broken . . . but I'm with you  . . . how do you rest your arm with a 3 month old to care for?
  • You can try the brace and see if it helps you feel better. B/c there is swelling around the nerve and it is most likely nerve pain you're feeling, I don't know if it will really help.  (My 2 cents as an OT).  I'd just try taking anti-inflammatories, and you can alternate ice/heat to help decrease the edema.

  •  I'm glad nothing's broken, but that still doesn't mean you're out of the woods yet, so take care of yourself!
  • YAY that it isn't broken but BOOO that it is going to hurt for a long time AND that you can't really rest it.

  • Excellent news that it isn't broken. I broke my elbow in high school - not fun.
  • Wipes brow....That was close!  Glad it's nothing MAJOR!!

Now go rest your elbow...LOL how the hell can you do that?!?!
