Where to buy a nice watch?
I'm going shopping with a good friend today for his partner's 40th birthday present. He wants to get him a nice watch with around a $5k budget. Never bought a piece of jewelry that expensive before. Any ideas where to go? He's new to Austin from NYC so doesn't know either.
Re: Where to buy a nice watch?
A guy I work with has bought a couple of nice watches at Russell Korman. I don't know that his are exactly in your friend's budget range, but it might be work a look!

Russell Korman (sp?) has high end watches, it's on 38th and Lamar. Over by Urban Betty Salon. They're the only authorized retailer of Breitling in Austin and I know they have other brands but I've only been in there once for about 2 minutes so I don't know what the selection is like.
Or if you wanted to make the journey down to San Antonio, there's a Tourneau in the shops at La Cantera, which has everything and then some.
i feel like most high end jewelry stores sell a few watches. I think Ben Bridge sells Tag, although those are probably a little less than his budget.
maybe C Kirk Root in the arboretum?
I type too slow! Sorry GuavaGal, didn't mean to parrot you.
Also, I think Jared carries Tag and maybe Omega.
argh!! Nest ate my first post!!
Neimans and Saks have Cartier, Ben Bridge is a Rolex dealer.
I bought DH's Cartier from saks, the manager is really nice, obviously you don't get a discount per se (and sometimes he does, last time he was willing to give DH a 30% discount), but he does give like a gift card or something to make the deal sweet.
What a nice 40th bd gift!!
