Name change services

Has anyone used one of those name change services? Like missnowmrs.com?

I'm thinking about using their service, but I'm wondering if it's really worth the $$? Is it actually helpful?

 TIA!

Re: Name change services

  • I didn't, but honestly the name change process wasn't bad at all.
  • I just did it on my own.  It's not too difficult so I can't imagine paying for someone else to do it unless somehow you don't have to physically go to places to do it (DMV, SS office.)

That's mainly what I'm wondering about - if using their service means I don't have to physically go to the DMV or SS office. It would be worth it to me, lol. Plus in the full version of the missnowmrs.com service it even has the form so you can do your passport too. I don't know...

I know it won't be that hard. I should just suck it up and do it on my own.

  • It's really not that bad. The most annoying part was changing my name at work b/c it was the end of the year and we had a bunch of forms to fill out, but I still had my maiden name but was changing it a couple days later...that was a hassle (still is actually). But the legal part of it was a cinch. Just make sure you have all the paperwork (you can get most online) and you should be in and out

    Agreed.
I only changed w/ Social Security, DMV, my Credit Cards (at my leisure) & Banks.  All the others, IMPO, are not important enough to change.

  • So far it hasn't been bad.  I don't see the point in paying somebody to help.  I don't know all that much info about those places but it seems like you still have to do everything yourself.

One thing I wouldn't have thought of, if the DMV didn't ask, was my voters registration card.

  • I did use one of them.  I'm not sure which one it was, but basically it was a waste of money.  I did like that they sent me all of the forms so basically all I had to do was fill them out and bring them in which saved me time.  I can't get my printer to work so that was nice, especially because they give you form letters you can fill in the blanks to and send off to get your name changed on everything else like your bank, credit cards, insurance, etc.  But you have to go anyways, so don't waste the money.  Its really not that hard that you need to pay for someone to help you.

  • Ok thanks ladies! I'll save the money and do it on my own!
