He was ready to go, its been a while since he was not feeling well the last few days. I have my pap this afternoon and thought i had heard that you shouldn't have anything in your vagina for 48 hours before the pap and since i've had abnormal paps 3 times in a row, i'm hoping for a good one today and didn't want it to be affected. He was disappointed but i told him tonight would be better. btw, i'm getting so sick of going every 3 months to my gyno for pap smear, i'm going to ask her today what can i do to speed up the process of having a good one, i'm afraid after about a year or two of doing this i may not want to keep going except for my annual.

If he had used a condom I think it would have been ok. Not sure, but I thought that's what I've heard. I've never actually been told when making an appointment to avoid sex.

they haven't done a colposcopy yet? When I got an abnormal they did a colpo then I had to go back every 6 months. I've had 3 colpos equaling about 5 biopsies and this last one should the beginning stages of cervical cancer.

You're not supposed to have sex before a pap as the bodily fluids can cause an abnormal result too.

after my first abnormal they did the biopsy and determined it was the mild case which apparently goes away on its own. i have to get paps every 3 months until i get 3 good ones in a row.....very irritating, but they have never mentioned doing another biopsy, i'm just glad its the mild case. 2 of my girlfriends had it too, they both just got back normal results so i'm wanting one now, but i had a sinus infection most of jan, so i'm not getting my hopes up. I hear a lot of it has to do with your immune system

hmm I had my first normal one after 2 years of having abnormal. They did an endometriosis test and all kinds of stuff..very painful thats for sure.

I had the mid grade as well. I have had 3 abnormal paps, they send me every 6 months. I hope my next one shows it is gone! What you can do is take supplements to promote a healthy immune system and take folic acid believe it or not my natural doctor told me it is showen to help get rid of it! I take it sublingually! Good luck!

Thanks, I've been taking a multi vitamin once a day for a couple years now, but i'm not sure if it has folic acid or not, i also take a b6 suplement, and the omega 3 fish oils, and i just got some oil of oregano, because i'm prone to sinus infections i read it might help prevent them. my mom told me today that i should take 4 fish oils everyday. i was only taking 1, i will ask my doctor what she recommends today. I heard on the internet that Beta Mannan is a good herb to take, but i've never heard of it before. my mom also said to douche everytime you have sex, which i haven't done for several years, ever since another doctor told me not to douche that the vagina cleans itself out. lots of questions today and this is also the pre baby making appt, i wanted to know if this mild case affects my fertility or not, hope it doesn't, and if its ok to be pregnant while i have this thing.

Actually I think the rule is to not have sex 24 hours before the pap smear because it can affect it. Mainly the cells can appear weird/abnormal. Having sex with a condom is no different from the stories that I've hear (it can still affect the smear). However, not all smears are affected by sex, they just CAN be.

I've found that anticipation is some of the fun of sex...especially for the man. Next time, if he's in the mood, straddle him and whisper what you want to do to him...that night. He's sure to be thinking about you all day and be in the mood whenever you're ready for it. Just make sure to follow through.

I'd say you did good to say "later darling!" It could have skewed the pap test.
