BR: Crib & Hello!

Hey Girls. Just wanted to stop by and say hello. I know that theres a couple of us that are now expecting. Well my H & I decided that we are going to order our crib this week! It's early but we've know for a while (our bff's are expecting- so we looked with them) which crib we want. Well its on sale this week and it comes with a free mattress. I'm not sure we will use the mattress but if not I figure we can put it on craigslist and use the money to buy a better one. :) We keep talking about cribs, strollers, and the million other things we need and he's so excited but he's so cheap, it about puts him into cardiac arrest. haha.

How's everyone that expecting & not doing? Everyone enjoying married life?

Re: BR: Crib & Hello!

  • Congrats on the pregnancy. Yay for getting a crib on sale and a free matress. For our crib and matress I think we spent about $400. We are doing great. We are getting ready for our LO who is turning 1 in 23 days. I swear I just had him yesterday.

  • Congrats! Share pics - I love baby furniture, for some reason. No babies for us for awhile, we want a house and to be finished with school first (which means at least 2 years since I haven't even started applying for my grad program yet and hope to start next spring).

Kellie- I can't believe your little man is already going to be 1! I feel like he was just born yesterday.

  • Hi! I'd love to hear any crib advice you may have in the hopes of being able to use it soon. Wink DH and I just started trying this month, and I am having weird symptoms already, but it's too early to test yet. Either I'm PG or about about to have to worst AF of my life! LOL!

Surprise! The Sequel is due 12.8.14!

  • That's so exciting! Congrats! Getting the nursery ready was my favorite part.

Just a little advice that I read somewhere when I was pregnant - when shopping for baby items, like carseats, cribs, etc, remember that everything like that has to be produced to certain standards and regulations, so anything that you buy is going to be 'good' (unless there is a recall, etc). If you buy a more expensive carseat than another, it's not going to be any safer or better for baby, you are only paying for the name brand and any gadgets it may come with. Just something to remember, I know it helped me choose between a few different brands on things a few times, and when it comes to buying all this stuff for baby, every dollar saved helps!

Its the Graco Lauren Classic from Target. I love it. It is convertable but we aren't going to convert it, its cheaper to buy a toddler bed. We picked this one because its been out for a long time, and I've read so many reviews and they say that the crib lasts really well.

     Here's the dresser/changing table:

This is Storkcraft, I really love it! We have a small nursery so we wanted to combine these two to save space. I think we are going to order this in a couple weeks.

Mom2one- Thats very good advice, I was worried I was being too cheap. We are putting every extra dime we have into savings for a down payment on our next house so we don't want to use a lot of money to decorate the nursery. :)

  • I love it! The combo dress/changing table are the best. BIL&SIL bought that for their daughter a few years back and I thought it was so neat.

Is it one of the convertible ones that becomes a double bed, too?

Mom2one - that is great advice. I had never thought about it that way!

  • Yep. I don't think that I we will convert it and use it that way but its nice that we have that option. I can't wait to order everything. We found a really nice strollers- its a new travel system that you can switch the handle around. You can either have baby face you or the baby can face where your walking.

Here's a picture of the stroller/car seat we want:

  • I don't know what happened!

    Here it is:

  • I love everything you picked out, great choices! Toddler beds are easy to find for cheap, I scoured craigslist until I found a good one, we only paid $30 for it, and Lincoln loves his Big-Boy-Bed!

Not to smother you with advice (but I learned you get it whether you ask for it or not when pregnant, even from strangers...haha!) but we got a Graco for Lincoln, and for the past 2 years I have used it fairly regularly whenever we would go shopping, for walks, etc, and it's already broken in 2 different spots. Tongue Tied I doubt it will last us through another baby.

I did love that you could use the carseat in the car with the base, and then lock it into the carseat. But if I could do it again, I would buy the Chicco one because we debated between the two.

  • We figured that we would have to buy a new car seat for every child we had so that we had a safe seat yet. I will look into the chicco seats though, I haven't really seen many of them. Thanks for the advice.
