So sad!

I lost one of the side stones in my e-ring!  I just looked down and noticed that it's gone.  I have no idea when it happened, but I play with my rings fairly regularly, so I would have to guess that it happened since I've gotten to work.  I looked around a little, but no luck.  I hate the way it looks right now and almost want to take it off, but I can't imagine not wearing my ring after over a year and half.

Has anyone had something like this happen before?  I'm going to get out the policy tonight to call the insurance company tomorrow morning, but I'm just wondering what the procedure normally is to get it fixed/reimbursed.

Re: So sad!

  • Your post got me checking my rings now!!   I'm sorry that you lost one of your stones, I'd be very very sad too.  Lots of vibes that it can be fixed with no charge from your insurance policy
  • oh no!!!!  DH lost a stone in his ring a month or so ago... we took it in and they replaced it FOR FREE.  hopefully your jeweler will do the same for you guys?!
  • Oh no! That would be so upsetting!

  • Boo. I'm so sorry, but try not to stress too much. This happened to my friend (a few friends actually). The one friend I am thinking of took it to her jeweler and they replaced it for free. I'm not sure what the other girls did.

  • That's a bummer Natalee!! Super Angry

I haven't dealt with this myself, but everyone I know who has had to deal with insurance/jewelers, they have had good experiences.

  • The jewelery store DH got mine from has a lifetime warranty on the stones and will replace them for free (I've had to have 2 replaced), does the place you got it from have a policy like that? GL I hope you can get it fixed!

  • The center stone of my e-ring fell out, luckily I found it and my jeweler fixed it for free.  I also believe they would have done that if I lost it because we bought the extra insurace/warranty thing.  Sorry you will have to go without it for a while!
  • that sux!  I have no advice as to the insurance policy tho....sorry
  • So sorry to hear! Like the other girls said, check with your jeweler first. My ring is not insured through our jeweler, it's on our homeowners. But, they told DH they would replace all but the center diamond should any of them fall out free of charge. GL! I hope everything works out.
  • awww, I would freak out if i lost one!  I hope the jeweler will replace it for free for you!
  • I'm sorry. I hope you get it fixed soon!
    Anniversary
  • And you gals think I'm crazy for not wearing my ering all the time. I'd be posting things like this all.the.time...

I lost one of my baguettes when my ering had to be cut off my little sister's finger (long story) and it had to be replaced. I emailed my jeweller to inquire about the cost of replacement, and then compared that to how much replacing the stone (and setting) through insurance would increase the policy. I ended up paying for the stone out of pocket, which sucked, but saved us more money in the long run.

    Sorry about your ring... Sad

Yep, one of my stones fell out about 2 weeks ago.  I handed the ring to DH, pointed to exactly where the stone was missing & he proceeded to turn the ring over flip it around, etc & said, "Huh, where's it missing?"  That right there was the sign that I'm not getting it fixed....I pointed it out & he still missed it so I can only assume that nobody else will see that it's missing either.  Although, I will be near the jeweler in a few weeks....if they are interested in "fixing" it, I'll let them but I am not paying anything over $20 to fix the teeniest tiniest stone I've ever seen in my life.  BTW, I didn't even spend time looking for the stone b/c it's so small.

  • As long as I take my ring in every 6 months for a check-up they will cover any missing stones. Does your jeweler have a policy like hat at all? I'd call them first.

Same for me. I actually hit my hand on a metal doorway two weeks ago at work, I looked down while I was in the meeting and noticed a stone missing from my wedding band.  I had to wait until the meeting was over to go look for it, but it was right in the doorway.   So I was lucky.

I had to pay $20 for them to reset it, it would have been free if I would have taken it in for the 6 month check up, but I hadn't.   If I didn't find the stone, I would have had to pay to replace it.

Now, I have my calendar marked so I won't miss the next 6 month check up.!

Good Luck Natalee.  You definitely should call your jeweler first to see if it is covered.

  • I lost one of the diamonds in my channel band like a month after we were engaged. Luckily, G bought the lifetime warranty and they replaced it for free. I was pretty upset though! I hope you can it fixed easily.
  • I'm sorry to hear that Natalee.  I would be so sad too.  I hope they can fix it for you easily - and cheaply.  Keep us posted!
