Thank you Gov. McDonnell

We are officially in a state of emergency.

IT HASN'T STARTED SNOWING YET!!!!!!!

and it isn't supposed to start until TOMORROW.

Seriously Virginia way to freak out.

They're even calling the VA Nat'l Guard to report for duty.

Ready, set, panic!

I WISH! We don't really close for things like that. On rare occasions, but probably not for tomorrow. We might get a chance to go home early depending on how bad it gets, but I'm not holding my breath. If it gets too bad I'll just go home and work from there

  • How much do you want to bet that you end up with like 2 inches? :)

  • could you do me a favor and keep your snow down there? ;-) We're only calling for 4-8 inches so far. And I'd even like that number to go down lol.

I would freaking love that. Although I'm looking forward to being snowed in on the couch all weekend with a valid excuse to do nothing and if we only get 2 inches I'll have to do my chores lol

Are you sure? We're supposed to get like 2 feet so I'll have plenty to spare ;)

  • I think they're overcompensating.  The blizzard in December was originally expected to be a foot and it ended up being closer to two feet and there were still people on the road (on Saturday when it was at its worst).  So, I think they're just trying to hammer it into everyone to take this potential storm seriously.  I agree it's ridiculous we're considered in a state of emergency today when the storm won't start until tomorrow late morning-ish.  I just hope the airlines don't freak out and cancel my flight tomorrow morning.

Ditto this.  My office has the worst snow policy ever.  Basically, if people can make it in then we don't shutdown, however a number of our employees live walking distance to work, so yeah.. We'll never close and you will have to use personal time if you can't make it in even it's legitimate (like my coworker who lives a good 25 miles out and her neighborhood roads were iced over the Monday after the December storm)

  • Are you going someplace warm because that is no fair!

I hope they're overcompensating. We don't normally get so much snow so last time when they were calling for that much no one believed it. I totally believe them now, but I think people are being ridiculous. I went to Target on my lunchbreak to just wander around and it was a mad house. So was the Wegmans. I wanted to shoot myself for actually deciding to go to that shopping center.

  • Lol, yeah I'm heading to Ft. Lauderdale, FL!

Wow, I was thinking of going to the mall tonight to pick up my dad's birthday gift, but maybe I'll just wait till tomorrow when I'm in FL.  I can't believe the craziness has already started.  I will be keeping my eye on the weather all weekend to see what happens.  I hope it's not as bad as last time.

  • I blame all the panic about snow on grocery store chain headquarters. I think they start the rumors after they hear the weather report so people will empty the stores.
