nursery poll

There's been lots of talk about nurseries lately!

What is your favorite color scheme?

Theme/pattern?

Are you for or against pink for girls/blue for boys?

Re: nursery poll

  • There's been lots of talk about nurseries lately!

What is your favorite color scheme?  I have lots.  I have about 30 different possibilities picked out.  I guess when you've been trying this long planning the nursery is the only thing left. lol  I love light and airy but doubt that ours will end up that way.  Black and red or lavendar and grey are my two top picks.  Orange and yellow is a close third.

Theme/pattern? My plan is to do argyle or a boy and vintage chic for a girl.  I will MAKE it happen.

Are you for or against pink for girls/blue for boys? Against! I hate pink and blue probably because my mother loved them both and her entire house was wedgewood blue and rose pink.  I refuse.

  • What is your favorite color scheme? I'm all for team green, so gender neutral! Love brown, green & white or I'm kind of in love with this:

Theme/pattern? Most neutral patterns tend to lean towards girly and I find it annoying. For animals, I love silhouettes like the pic and woodland creatures like deer, birds, bunnies, raccoons!

Are you for or against pink for girls/blue for boys? I'm so over it. I have 4 nephews and 4 nieces and everything they had/have as babies was pink or blue. I don't mind them as accents.

  • Oh boy... were still working on ours...well we haven't really started! Were not finding out the sex and planning on having anoter baby so ours will be neutral. Possibly periwinkle with cream and non-pattern bedding. I think well hang photos of real baby animals instead of cartoon stuff.

  • For a girl: not a fan of pink but I LOOOOVE this

For a Boy I like Blues and Browns. Something rustic, haven't found it yet but we're not really ready to be looking anyways.

  • I don't really have a favorite per se.  I'm a big fan of tons of nurseries that I've seen, and will probably have a hell of a time narrowing it down when I am actually PG.  I much prefer loose themes over patterns though...I don't really go for baby print bedding sets.  Like Karrey, I'm all about vintage chic for a girl.  For girls I tend to be drawn to nurseries with pale pinks, greens, and creams in them.  I'm not necessarily against pinks and blues, but I prefer to use them as accents rather than make that the whole nursery.

  • I would love to do Black and Pink for a girl (though I doubt M will let me).

For a boy, I bet if we can make it happen, M will want it Bruins themed.

Other than that, no ideas at all, we'll think of it more once we get to that point.

Pink is my favorite color so I would absolutely do pink for a girl.

  • Well you all saw what we're doing for JB's nursery.  My plan is to get a green paint that is in one of the fabrics I picked out last week and paint the walls that color.  I'd like to do white beadboard on the lower half of the walls- I think it so smart looking.  I looked at cribs online last night and that was scary!
I'm not against pink or blue for boys or girls, its just that we're going to have another baby and I want to reuse as much as possible.

  • I'm a sucker for dark wood and modern twists on classics.  I didn't want baby girl pink, so we went with the Watermelon dark pink and green scheme, which looks nice with the dark wood.

I'm looking forward to having a house and decorating a proper nursery.

  • All I've had on my mind lately are nurseries! No, I'm not pregnant :( yet!

I can't posts pics since I'm at work, but I am also diggin' the vintage/shabby chic look. Since we plan on being team green, we want white with soft pastels throughout in all colors and older 70's-ish white crib and furniture. We can't break the bank on it because we are poor, so I'm hoping to find a lot of my nursery decor through re-sale shops and yard sales (and hand me downs from relatives of course). My priciest item may be a pretty chandelier though :)

If team green doesn't work out for whatever reason, I had always wanted black/hot pink for a girl but now I'm thinking that black is just too harsh/bold for a baby's room. I may just do white and yellow with a few black accents. No clue what we'd do if we knew we were having a boy.

I have some pics saved on my computer at home, so I will update this later.

  • This is my favorite "set" but I have seen it done many many times.  There is one that is very similar in lavendar that I really like....

    but I also love this...

  • Im not totally over pink and blue, if used the right way and sparingly.

I am digging on grey paired with yellow or apple green!

I am alos in  love with the following nurseries!

  • One of our guest rooms is the prettiest shade of lime/pear green ever (melange green by sherwin williams).  I wanted to put the baby in there with a very gender neutral theme of bright colors and vintage toys.  This is our other guest room image.  When DH found out it was a girl, he insisted she go in the hot pink room.  I wasnt crazy about the idea, and I'm still not. I didn't want to shove pink down her throat, but I am working with it.  We still have this furniture in there along with a white Jenny Lind style crib.  I am going for a cottage/shabby style and will have to send pics of what I have done so far, but needless to say with this bright of walls, the other colors are very muted. I am doing a bird/birdhouse theme, and this is my dream quilt for the queen sized bed image.  I still think that after the baby, I will paint a softer color, I just can't fathom doint that right now.

  • If we have a baby in our current house I won't get to set up a nursery because we'll move around August 2011.  Crying  There's no point in setting up and decorating a room that will get destroyed by Navy movers in just a few months.

However, I'm a huge Pottery Barn Kids fan.  Not that we would ever spend this much on a baby's room....but you'll get the idea of what I like.

I'm a big fan of nurseries that can easily be converted to big girl and big boy rooms.  I had a pink room as a child and I grew to hate it, so I would never paint the walls a gender specific color.  Except for maybe very, very pale blue, but that could also work for a girl's room.

If DH has his way, this will be a future son's room:
