Reason 498 that I hate MIL

I was visting this weekend with my cousin who happened to be one of the GM in our wedding. I have not seen him much since the wedding so we were telling stories. Anyhow, he told me that MIL came up to him and DH's brother at the rehearsal and said, "M needs to be more nervous. You need to say things to make him nervous. He shouldn't be so sure of this. Doesn't he realize this is forever?"

Um, thanks. Am I the only one that thinks you SHOULD be sure if you are getting married? The time to be unsure was oh, when he asked, when we moved in together, the 4 years we have been dating, etc etc etc.

This was almost 8 months ago, I need to get over it. But I'm totally annoyed.

  • Oh keb. :( I'm afraid this is just the beginning of the IL hate. Why did ILs seem halfway normal before we married their sons?

My MIL was never normal, I think I just lied to myself that it would get better. It hasn't. UGH

  • Would it make you feel better to know you're a dead ringer to win DIL with the best hair??

  • Keb - I feel your pain...  DH thinks his parents like me better than they do him but sometimes MIL says things/does things that are just little jabs that pisss me off so much.

My MIL thought it would be fun to tell me that DH was late on our wedding day... she kept saying things like "maybe he changed his mind" etc.  In reality, DH forgot my present at the house and went to get it with his BM but didnt have keys to the house because his brother was driving his car.  He called his bro, who was with his parents and he took him the keys so MIL knew why he was late the whole time but thought she should freak me out.  I think it irritated her that it didnt bother me as much as she wanted it to.  I'm still irritated by it...

I'm also still irritated by the fact that they have not gotten us a wedding present.  Yes I know no one has to get us a present and I would never say anything.  But one night we were at dinner and MIL says to DH, "did your dad ever give you your wedding present?" DH said no and she said she would talk to him.  That was 6 months ago and its never been mentioned again.  WTF... its just odd.

This sounds SO much like something mine would say. Ugh. Why are these women so weird? It makes me not want to have sons!!!
