Does this sound gross?

I have a frozen (thawing) pork tenderloin that is marinated in teriyaki sauce. I was thinking I would put it in the crockpot with more teriyaki and add frozen veg. I'm trying to use what we have on hand, but also don't want to ruin food.

Re: Does this sound gross?

  • what kind of veggies? i would think putting them in the crockpot might make them kinda soggy... i'd probably stir fry them with some of the sauce/juice for a couple minutes and eat that with the pork & rice.
  • Mmm. I'd have to check. Some mix with broc and carrots. I'm not sure why I bought it. I have no clue on how to use frozen veg if not in a soup or casserole.
  • i'd stir fry them personally, but i think soggy broccoli is gross so that's just me.
  • Carrots should be ok since they are more dense but I'd hold off on the broccoli. You could always add them in about 30-60 min before you want to eat and that should be enough time to cook it with out over cooking it.
  • I agree with fly that I think I'd stir fry the veggies.  The veggies will probably come out soggy and I'd be afraid of the veggies being to salty with all that teriyaki sauce.  I think for the pork, I'd pan cook it for about 5 min per side and then finish it off in the oven.
  • Glad I didn't do the veg in the crockpot. I stir fried them separately and it all turned out pretty well! Thanks!
