My ID - a little weirded out

So last night when DH were having our amazing margaritas, our waitress took our IDs. Like...didn't just look at them, see the birthday, then give them back, but took them back to the bar.

My first instinct was just "oh...they probably just have a scanner they run them under to make sure it's not a fake" ...but the more I think about it, the more paranoid I am that she made copies or something like that and now they know our names and where we live and...just tell me if I'm totally paranoid or what?

Re: My ID - a little weirded out

  • Yeah, that seems a little strange.  I would probably call the restaurant and ask .........but that's just me, I'm a worrier too.  Stick out tongue

  • I would think she may have had to show them to the bartender for a second opinion or something.

  • some places are over the top with ID checking - maybe the place you were at had recently got in trouble for serving to minors and is now taking extra measures. Most states have whatever you call those pictures that can be seen better under certain light - so maybe that's what he was checking.
  • In CA everyone is over the top so that would be normal.  Maybe there was a black light or something.  But if that's not usual, I would call and inquire as to why she would have needed them.
  • I will bet money that they thought yours was fake.  No offense, Laura, but you do look like you're 15!  I'm sure they were running it under a black light and then wondering what facial products you use!  :)

But like PP said- if you are really worried go ahead and call the restaurant and check that this is a normal procedure.  If it's not, give them your waitresses name and request they look into that.
