I'm sure there's got to be some venting to be done, especially since we haven't done this in a while.
Re: FFF anyone?
I'd love to!
Right now I have pent up anger with the place that employees me because of our sick/vacation day policy. We get 10 hours PTO/month. that's sick/vacation/personal/etc. 10 effin' hours.
that's a total of 3 weeks during the year, which sounds all fine and jolly....until you really think about how much time other folks get, even teachers. Teachers around here get 10 sicks days for 10 months- I get 5 sick days for 12 months. Teachers also get their annual leave days, summers off and winter/spring breaks. We get two days at christmas one day for other major holidays!
the weather has been AWFUL this month and today it was too horrible to get to work because I commute 30 miles, which means i'm at home, short 8 hours for the week and HAVE to use PTO time.
I'm just sitting here pissed that I feel like I should go in even though I know it's unsafe and on top of that, I'm using PTO time (and spending it in a pissy mood)
I am a cold person by nature - I am always chilly & try to never be caught without a sweater or jacket. So it ticks me off when people say, "You're from Vermont - how the heck could you be cold?" First of all, I have lived in NC for 7 years...let's just say I've acclimated. Also, I was really cold there, too...which was part of my reason for moving here.
I hate professors who sending out papers/emails with plenty of typo's and misspelled words. Then they have the balls to complain about how sloppy their student's papers are. Ever thinking they were following your example? Also, I hate when they are intentionally mean. Is that really necessary? Make rude and degrading comments will not help the learning process.
I could have cared less about the Superbowl... until I realized Kendra's hubby plays for the Colts. I love that girl- guilty pleasure I guess. But I'm hoping they give her some coverage during the game because it will make me happy!
I hate that my IL's can't or won't be supportive of DH's attempts to find a new job. They seem to think that he's not doing anything, and not taking it seriously. It's not like we're super thrilled to still be living with them 8 months later. We're as sick of it as they are. They have connections they could use to help him, but they won't. It's ridiculous.
Also, I hate to tell them, but what we spend on the occasional dinner out (we're talking pizza or Mexican) would not cover an apartment, so the snide comments are pretty useless.
The UPS man is lucky I found my packages THREE blocks away, otherwise I would have ended his career in brown pants. He is the meanest guy ever. I actually watched him heave a package from the curb at someone's house. Seriously. I hate this guy. When you accept a package and say thanks and smile, he grunts and acts like a douche.
Ben threw a fit at the indoor play area at the mall today. I put him in timeout and was handling it, but he was still screaming his fool head off. Some woman whipped around and gave us a dirty look because she was on her cell phone. And some other woman who worked at one of the stores came over, got right in his face and shushed him. I whipped around and told her that she was not helping. Yes it's frustrating when a kid is throwing a fit. It is INFINITELY MORE frustrating when it is your own kid who is causing the scene. Getting in his face is only making it worse. I was handling the situation, it wasn't like he was just running around acting like an ass. She's lucky I didn't punch her fat finger down her throat.
You totally should have!!
I can not imagine doing this to some stranger's child.
I think the word "b!tch" is completely appropriate in this situation.
Thank you for being on my side on this one. I mean, I know that sometimes outside people can help diffuse a situation. Once Ben threw a fit in Walmart and an older woman started talking to Ben. Just stuff like "Boy, you sound angry! I hope you're not too angry! Hey, what's that on your shirt?" She engaged him and diverted his focus and brought him back from the edge. Getting in his face and shushing him??? For real??? I've yelled at other kids before when their parents aren't around. I was right there HANDLING the situation.
GRRRRRRR! She's lucky she didn't catch me on Wednesday when I had a RAGING case of PMS.
I feel bad for parents when their kids are throwing a fit in public. Like Speed said, it must be worse for them than for everybody else listening to it. So I've tried to give them a "I understand" type smile. But sometimes I feel like it comes off as "I'm smiling trying to be nice about it but you should really shut-up your kid". Anyway, it frustrates me that it is hard to show your support for a parent who is trying their best to handle the situation. I also do try to give the evil eye to people giving the evil eye to the parent/kid breaking down. But not sure that that is accomplishing a whole bunch.
I wish I liked beer enough to do that. But I do like hot dogs, so I'd be all about those.
I'm very lucky to have a guy like my DH. Most of the time we just "click" and work together perfectly as a team. This morning was the exact opposite and it frustrated me to all heck.
I hate that too!!! People huffing and puffing, loud sighing, leaning over to see if whoever's paying is almost done, etc. We're all in it together, we're ALL waiting!!! Just like when Im sitting in slow moving traffic during rush hour and ppl are tailing me, where are you going!?! We're ALL sitting in this crap!
