hey girls, i miss you
its snowing pretty good here now, how is it down there? DH left yesterday so he could beat the bad weather. i'm flying back on Sunday. i had 3 days bereavement Mon-Fri and decided to stay through the week to help my parents with closing their business. there's so many things happening all at once!
the funeral and services were really nice. we live in a very small town (about 2,500 i think) and my grandpa knows a lot of people. we counted 500 at the viewing! i left on Friday to come up and just visit with him and my grandma. got stuck in the Chicago airport overnight and arrive home around 10:00 Saturday morning. went straight to my grandparents, he had come home with Hospice the day before. i was there for 1 hour and then he passed. we were all right there at his bedside. it couldn't have been a more peaceful death. and i'm so glad i made it in time. my granny said he was waiting because he knew i was coming. we never thought it'd happen so fast, but fast is good when you're dying.
other than that ... i'm getting cabin fever in this small town! i went to our school (it's kindergarten - 12th grade!) the other day with other family who graduated there. we walked around our old hallways and classrooms. the building is being torn down later this year. it's at least a 100 years old! so much history, sad to see it go (they're rebuilding).
that's it for me. hope everyone is ok this week. i'll catch up on the NC nestie stuff next week when i'm back.
Re: Hi! I'm still in Ohio
I've been thinking of you too.
I'm glad you got there in time and he passed away with his family around him.
Thanks for checking in and let us know if you need anything.
I am glad you made it in time.
You have been in my thoughts as well.
Hugs!!
Hi KB, I'm sorry to hear about your grandpa, but am so glad that you were able to be there for him. I know it meant a lot to him.
Have a safe trip back down here--the weather here is nasty!!
