Since we are both apparently menu planning for superbowl parties, help me brainstorm.
So far I am making:
Pulled Chicken BBQ sandwiches
Cornbread Salad (MH's fave)
Mexican dip (I realize this doesn't really 'go' together but MH loves it).
Punch with sherbert, ginger ale and pineapple juice.
I think another friend is bringing some sort of buffalo dip and brownies.
What else?
Re: Paula!
How many people are we talking? What do you feel like your menu is missing (or what are you thinking you want to add?)
To me, it looks like you've got just about everything covered, so if it's a smaller gathering, I'd actually stop at that. From having a few of the football parties we had, we learned to scale back or everyone ate until they were sick or we all were pissed we were all taking SO MUCH food back.
If you wanted to, you could add chex mix or cheese & sausage (snacky-type, milling-around-the-food-table things. Not sure if you have them there or if they're a straight WI thing, but cheese whips cut into manageable pieces with cut up hot sticks are usually a HUGE hit.) You could always do a relish tray or fruit/veggie tray as well. Not impressive, but options.
Sure... it's only ~3 hour drive!
We're stopping at the new place around 3 so we can sit down and watch it, although I foresee one or both of us falling asleep! LOL
Herein lies the problem - I have NO clue how many people will show up. MH invited about 20 and told some of them "Sure you can bring someone." I'm making him call the people he invited tonight to find out for sure a number so I can prepare.
I know for certain that we will be having 10 people (these are people who confirmed to me).
I'm thinking veggies would be good to add. There are veggies in the cornbread salad but I love to snack on veggies.
AND... the best part is that if you have a ton of leftover veggies, you'll eat them. You can just throw together a stir-fry early next week and they're gone!
It's nothing spectacular, but you could add something like this if you were interested in a back-up/more variety:
The slightly sweet flavors and crunchy broccoli almost have a slaw quality that goes well with BBQ type dishes. Another way to get in some veggies without a straight veggie tray.
In finding that, I ran across this:
That looks awesome!! (I know MH wouldn't eat it, but I might consider those if we have a Housewarming Open House. Easy, good presentation, and fairly popular flavors.)
