stupid furniture store

I'm annoyed. We literally drove back and forth between value city, roomful express and levin's deciding between different bedroom sets. We ended up picking value citys. Great price. Quick delivery.

But of course its not always nice and smooth. When they put the actual mirror ON the mirror backboard, it was crooked. No one noticed it till they started to connect it to the dresser and the mirror scratched the top of our dresser. Since then, we've found slight issues with every piece of furniture. And yesterday, I happened to notice some nice scratches/chipped paint going up the walls along our stairs. They came out today to replace the mirror and 'access the damage' to see what amount they can take off our bill. At first they offered store credit.. no thanks! who says I wanted to go back! Well they said $175 off. Really, thats it?!

Now, our damages aren't major. But we bought NEW furniture.... not stuff from a scratch and dent store. I told TJ to tell them what a friend of ours said to say 'u know what then? just bring me ALL new stuff'. cause it'll cost them more in labor and gas to do that probably.

I don't think I'm going back to value city again. And I'll be sure to make it known to them. And what a shame cause we still have alot of rooms to finish.

  • Ugh, that's irritating! Sorry it didn't go smooth like it should. Can you complain up a higher level, maybe that can do something more?
  • TJ called the corporate office last week cause he didn't like how the store's customer acted. And all they did was have the store (or warehouse?) manager call him. And it doesn't even sound like the guy that came was the guy he talked to. He was texting me and had to run off to wrestling practice. so I'll find out that part later.

  • I agree tell them to bring you all new stuff and tell them NOT to scratch your walls in the process.  They aren't going to care if you dont come back to finish shopping for more furniture.  What will hurt them is if they have to replace it all.

    we bought our sectional from them just over a year ago, and i'm glad to say that we didn't have any problems. 

     

  • UGH!! I'd be glad to kick them for ya!
  • Have them bring you new stuff and ask them to be compensated for the damage to your walls. Otherwise, call the BBB and make a compliant. Also, call and write corporate until you get what you want. If you irritate them enough they will give you whatever you're asking for to make you go away.

    I made a HUGE stink with Gold's over them trying to tell us we hadn't canceled our gym membership (which we did) and they charged us for another month and told me they wouldn't refund my money because that was part of their policy but we were free to use the gym through the end of the month. I told them I was calling the BBB, making a compliant to corporate, putting it on FB and twitter and on my blog if I didn't have my money back by the next business day. Turns out they were suddenly able to accommodate my request. I did complain to corporate, but that was it. I didn't really plan on bashing all over the internet, but it scared them enough to give me what I wanted.

  • I would definitely make them bring you new furniture and inspect it with them there. You paid for new furniture not new all scrated up furniture.

  • TJ left another msg with corporate and they said the office manager will be calling him. A friend of ours also said to call BBB. I just don't want to make a huge deal out of this if thats really a fair amount. Even though to us, it does not seem right.

    Apparently they were only going to give us 135 then tj was like 'what?!'. And the guy asked to see our bill then says 'ok, 175'. $25 of that is for our walls. Then the guy started saying how the warehouse guys keep pushing for a bonus for not messing up houses etc. Bullshit, I wouldn't give them a dime.

    Oh and before the guy left he made a comment about us having so many rooms and to keep them in mind.... yaaaah right sir.

  • Oh man! I'm sorry Tammy. I have no advice because I would just take the hit and then stew over it for the next few months (LOL) but I hope you get a good resolve.
  • lol Gerrie, thats probably what I'll end up doing. Well, I'll take that 175 atleast. But then be pissy for awhile. I don't know if I see TJ giving up as easily though.. thats why I'm letting him do all this and not me lol.
