So I am doing a lot of research and studying up on my fertility clinic. I can pull reports on statistics for just my clinic to see how well they "rank" so to speak.
39.7 % rate of twins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Das a big big number for me to swallow.
Sorry Agent, triplets is only 3%
Re: Premature freak-out
I will hold on to my tiny 3% LOL!
Well you can look at it like 60.3% were Singeltons??? Thats a little more then half
Im crazy, I keep telling DH I want twins...that way we can get it all done with one swoop! LOL...Though I would most likely tear my hair out with twins.
I really wanted twins too, I was on Agents mindset of getting it all taken care of at once. Plus my dads a twin and dh is a twin so I thought it would be fun. But right now I am pretty happy with a single.
Karrey, I have a feeling that you BEYOND thrilled with twins!
TTC #1 13 cycles, CP 6/09, TTC #2 1 cycle
CDing, EP'd for 13 months for #1, BFing for #2
Pregnancy Hypertension - inductions at 39w, I grow big babies: DD was 9 pounds 1 ounce 22 inches, DS was 11 pounds even 22 inches - both vaginal deliveries
The incidence of twins has to do with the method used.
When they do an egg extraction for "traditional" IVF, you get a bunch of eggs. A portion of these eggs get fertilized and become viable embryos. To increase the chances of one of the embryos sticking, they implant several (usually up to four) embryos at a time. The rest are frozen.
You almost always get twins or triplets initially. Some do not stick. Often, multiples stick. Sometimes one of the "stickies" does not last.
If they use other methods, the likelihood of twins goes down. It really depends on the person's particular issues as to what method is used.
Yeah, that's how I'd look at it!
When I was younger I wanted twins, but now I'm like uhhhhhhh I don't know about that. DH's Dad is a twin, and I have twins in my family. We'll see what happens lol.
It would be SO stressful and so much work and so little sleep to have twins.
But it would be TWICE the first smiles, first giggles, first hugs and kisses...
I think you could handle it Karrey! You're a strong lady!
Yeah, I know all the methods and procedures. Trust me, I have read everything I possibly can about all of this. I guess until you are in the situation, it is hard to understand having to possibly make those choices given all of the circumstances.
Just a momentary freak out
I wanted twins desperately when I found out I was pregnant. Twins run in my family and since they skip a generation, one of us kids is going to have twins for sure. With my luck it will be my next pregnancy, but oh well.
I can admit that the thought of twins is overwhelming. However, I agree that it is not only twice the work and worry, but twice the joy and fun. Either way, we just want you to have a happy, healthy future pregnancy . . . twins or not.
Thanks for the positive encouragement ladies.....always welcome over here in infertility loom and gloom.
One of the girls I used to work with got pregnant with triplets using only clomid. I don't know if they didn't monitor well or if she decided to go ahead or what. She had the most beautiful kids, but definately a handful!
EEEEEEK!!! how blessed you would be with 2 babies at once!
I am sooo excited for you! NO FREAK OUTS!!!!!
