Book Club Review

Thank you all so much for coming out.  We had a great turnout last night.  The fabulous ndluvsrk was a wonderful host- thank you again!!!

The next book will be The Murder of King Tut by James Patterson and will be hosted by XTina at her place downtown.  The next book club will be mid-March.

Last night majority vote went to The Help by Kathryn Stockett.  I know other nesties have mentioned it before, but it is arguably one of the best books on tape out there.  If you've ever considered trying audible, you can google a few free downloads to check it out.  (They make it very easy to cancel, I promise.)  That meeting will be late April-ish hosted south.

All nominations recieved at least one vote so they'll all carry forward.

Oh, and of course, all of the food and company was priceless.  :)

Re: Book Club Review

  • Last night was so much fun.  Although I worried the bejesis out of DH when I didn't answer the phone the 20 times he called.  Whoops.  It was so nice to meet some of ya'll last night and then meet some of ya'll again.  I feel like that guy in 50 First Dates that has the 5 second memory and re-introduces himself over and over again.

  • It was so nice to see you all and meet some new people and put faces to their screennames.  Thanks again NDK, for hosting - your home is just beautiful.

I'm so impressed by the caliber of women I've found in this group and it was really nice to get out and amongst grown ups talking about grown up things. Thanks again for including me!

  • I had a great time, too! Thanks, NDK, for being a wonderful hostess. Sorry that I saw K1 up a bit late. I hope he was ok this morning.

Also, GREAT book nominations. All of them sounded really cool.

  • I had a great time last night, too (my first book club)! Thanks for hosting, NDK.  I'm looking forward to the next one.
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • I had a great time last night too. Thanks for hosting ndluvsrk! (PS K2 is adorable)
  • Thanks for hosting ndluvsrk!  You house is gorgeous.

I had such a great time and can't wait until the next one.

Was your DH with mine?  Because he reacted exactly the same way!  In his words, "How can you talk about books for that long?"

It was wonderful meeting you all last night, and thanks again for hosting ND!

Since I am so accident prone, I think he had visions of my car off in a ditch or something.  Does not help that I'm PG.  It has made him even more paranoid.  Talk about a vivid imagination.  Ha!

And ND, thanks for hosting!  The boys are super cute and I love your dog.  So sweet!  Can't wait for the April meeting!

  • So sad that I missed it Sad DH was in town and off work ... and I see him so rarely these days, I didn't want to tell him I was going all the way to Cedar Park!

I can't believe I missed meeting some of you, and missed discussing this book!

I'm looking forward to next month's book and seeing Xtina's cool place downtown!

  • Yea; I love  The Help and that one will be South. Whoopee!

  • I am SO BUMMED that I missed this. I was *this close* to just popping a Lortab last night and going anyway. Smile That would have been bad news, but I actually read the entire book AND watched the movie and I wanted to discuss it so much.

You totally could have laid down in the back seat of my car (not that it would have been comfortable at all) clutching your gullet all the way there and back.  It was a good conversation- you definitely would have been in your element.  I'm sorry you weren't able to make it.

  • I'm also really bummed I missed (and super late to the post). I was really looking forward to it, but Ocho and I were both under the weather.  I'm trying again for next time!

Someone just told me this weekend they are reading this and it's great. Can't wait to read it, now!

I've already read this book so I have a copy if someone would like to borrow it (though they have to promise to be gentle with it. I PPH this book! Smile).
