Cleaning person advice needed

I finally decided to hire a cleaning person. I?ve already been through the interview, reference checking

part and she starts next week.  The question I have is what type of work do you have your cleaning

person do? How long do they come in for and how often? I was thinking of having her in for 2 hours a week. I?m just not sure what to expect in terms of what she can do in that time frame or if it?s enough?

Thanks for your help!

Re: Cleaning person advice needed

  • The way it's always worked for us is that the first time the cleaner comes in they sort of estimate how long it will take them each time.  I find if you have an experienced cleaner they know how long things will take and what you'll want done.

We have our woman do the floors, kitchen (counters, sink, appliances etc), dust, vacuum bathrooms and for our 2800 square footer 3 bathroom it takes her four hours.

We were satisfied with that.  I also used to have a service for our condo and for that (900 square feet 1 bathroom) it was 2 hours.

  • If you are hiring a professional cleaner, she should provide you a master clean list and ask you to select and and all things you want done on each visit, then she should do a walkthrough and let you know how long it will take. In 2 hours, you may have to get her to do a bit less than you may think. We had 2 ladies coming each week for 3 hours and they did the place top to bottom. Once a month they stayed an extra hour and wiped down the tops of the kitchen cabinets and wiped the baseboards and window/door trim.
