So I dont feel like shellign out $22 smackers to hav emy bed spread dry cleaned.
I think the tag does say dry clean only...
So. Can I like wash it, and then only let it run in the dryer for a tiny bit? Will ti be ok? Eeeeeep!
Re: Dry cleaning question
Depends. Some do well some dont. I have had both. It is a chance that you are just going to have to be willing to take. Can you part with it or live with yourself if it doesn't come out perfect when you are done?
I tried it with my recent one (which is nothing spectacular) and it left creases that will not go away no matter what I do. Inside those creases are weird detergent stains and no amount of vinegar or water will get them out. It was nothing special so I am not too worried about it but if I had really loved it like I do some of my others, I wouldnt do it.
This happened to me once too, I agree, don't do it!
I'd need to know the materials and texture. If it has any kind of embroidery, jacquard or applique, the machines will start to break that down. It will be fine to do it once on gentle, but repeated cycles with degrade the thread.
Most bedspreads will be ok, even to dry. You will need to unroll it in the dryer mid-cycle once or twice or it will dry unevenly.
I wash mine constantly, but it's also corduroy and gets vacuumed every other day because of dog hair.
That being said, I have a front load washing machine and it's F/Q comforter. I wouldn't want to put anything bigger in it because it won't wash properly and you'll end up with the stains Karrey was talking about.
Drying I wouldn't worry about, you just have to keep taking it out and rearranging how it goes back in so it will dry properly and you won't be left with fiber lumps.
