Re: aw: our wedding cake.

  • I think that's pretty darn coolBig Smile Would you mind sharing the website?

As for us, I think my dear mother is going to bring us our frozen cake top sometime in the next few days. She insisted on keeping it frozen so we could have it for our first anniversary, and it just never got brought from my parents house to ours. She is sweet:)

I'll bet your fresh free 6-inch cake will taste a heck of a lot better than our one year old cake.

P.S. Way to rock the daily mile on your facebook. I've been using run keeper on my iphone as of late. I wonder if that links directly to facebook? Are you still planning on a half this spring?

  • Your cake is so pretty! I bet the nice fresh one will be yummers. To be honest, I am not sure if we have frozen cake or not... my mom *might* have it in her freezer. Although, in the interest of full disclosure, it was just a Duncan Hines marble cake mix, as my mother did our cake, so i could bake a fresh something up. SO delicious. She always uses the stuff from the box, but gosh it is so good haha

So true - I think that boxed cake is mouth-watering! Not that I have homemade cake all that much. (which is a tad better if it's made correctly!)

On a happier note, even though we'll have year-old cake, our seasonal Dairy Queen opens up Feb 6th! We can go get DQ. (Normal seasonal Dairy Queens in Minnesota don't open until April, so this is a small perk of this town I now live in:)

    What? Seasonal DQ? Strange.

  • Most small town Dairy Queens (or other little walk-up ice cream shops) in Minnesota don't serve burgers or fries, just the ice cream. (There are some that are actual restaurants where you can order the full menu and they're open all year long). You order at a walk-up window and then there's usually picnic tables outside to sit at. When there's snow on the ground, most people don't want to walk up and get ice creamBig Smile, so they close in the winter. (most are open April - October or something like that).

However - the one in our town must get enough business doing cakes and things for valentine's day that they do open when it's still winter.

    Ahh yes... dairy queen!

  • Haha I tried to reply to this last night... Thats how most DQs are here. They close in October and open up usually in March or so. Personally, I dont think its ever too cold to eat ice cream, but I generally don't want to have to stand outside to order or consume it

  • Ours never close...I think the one where we live now is icecream only, but the one in my hometown is a full fledged fast food joint. We hardly ever go to DQ, sometimes we get an itch for a blizzard.

  • Wow, Dairy Queens in Canada as far as I know are all either in malls or stand alone restaurants like McDonalds. they don't have a walk up window, but they may have drive through. and they all serve burgers, fries etc as well as ice cream and are open year round.

here tho, the one in the mall is combined with an orange julius and only serves some of the ice cream things and none of the hot food. There is one near where MIL lives that is only ice cream as well and is also only seasonal.
