18 kindergartners? Really? And this is just reading support?

yeah i just have them for 30 minutes and I am supposed to focus on writing. I heard that the teachers took the small groups first (they wanted a break) so the tutors got the big groups. I have heard that these are the highest level kindergartners in the grade, so that is a plus! Still though, 18 is a lot!!

What do you plan to do with all of them?

well the first of the week we are going to do intros and maybe a game to remember names, go over rules, etc. then the rest of the week work on sentence structure. Remembering spaces, capital letters, periods. Where to start writing and how to go to the next line. One of the teachers went over it and she said these kids should be able to do this already but its a good way to review and get them ready for writing the next week. Then the following week we will really get into writing. I will read a story on Mondays (maybe one of my fav Arthur books!) Tuesdays we will review the story and I will give them some type of prompt from what they learned in the story (also helps them with listening skills). First they will draw their picture (that will take a day), the next day start writing and they will be able to go back and look at their picture for ideas. The last day we will revise our stories and make them PERFECT!! I have them 4 days a week so this will be what we work on for the next 4 weeks and then my job is over

They only contracted me till March because they ran out of title 1 money for intervention teachers.

well it is now, the past 6 weeks we have been doing reading. They changed our groups around this past week because a lot of them were doing so much better with reading! That makes me feel good
