I have a pet question.
Does anyone have a cat and a dog that both live indoors? If you do what did you to to get them friendly with eachother? What breed dog do you recommend for someone who already has a cat? H and I are wanting to get a puppy but we want a cat/baby friendly breed.

our cat and dog both live indoors. The cat is a maine *** and the dog is a chihuahua. They get along a little *too* well. The dog (girl - fixed) is constantly humping the cat (male- fixed). The cat is very laid back and just takes it but doesn't seem thrilled about it.
Anyway, the cat was about three years old when we got the dog. At first (for quite a while actually) they were not fond of each other at all, but we'd fuss when they'd be mean to each other. Over time, they got over it and now love each other.
OMG I can't believe it censored what kind of cat he is!

both of those breeds are notoriously 1 owner breeds, but being a mutt might negate that.
mzovoce- I went to petfinder.com and saw some of the most adorable dogs. When I look at the amount of animals in shelters it is just sad and I want to take them all home. Mr. Clou loves the Pomchi but he falls in love easily so I just have to show him a cute pic of a shelter pup. Afterall I am known for taking in animals, not buying them. I stole Cooper from the Fleamarket...so sad.
My parents have a lab (not necessarily known for being cat friendly). I brought home my cat when the dog was 5. It just takes some time getting the animals acquainted and familiar with the new house rules (mainly play nice). The cat lets the dog know when she's upset or frightened, and the dog lets the cat know when she's not feeling well (she's 11). It all works out.
