Designs by Dana. Hands down. My oldest brother (the biker/Marine) made me promise him two things when I turned 18. The first was if I ever got arrested to call him and not my mom, and the second was if I ever got a tat to go to Dana's. Luckily, I've only used the promise for my tat. I've never seen a bad one from there.

Not really NKY but close--I got mine at Skincraft tattoos and body piercings on Short Vine in clifton (near Bogarts if you know where that is) and I thought they did a great job!

I got my tattoo at Mother's in Covington (Main Strasse). Chu (Matt) did the tattoo. He's amazing. Here's how my tattoo turned out (this was taken about a year after I had it.. which was a few months ago).

ETA: pricing is reasonable at Mother's. My tattoo was $250.00. I had to put a deposit down to secure the date, and that cost also included Chu's sketches (which I was able to keep) and a consultation. So that was cool. He was really gentle - it didn't hurt at all. It took about 4 hours total, because the outline took awhile. Overall, it was a great experience and it's the only place I will ever go to for future tattoos. HTH!

Mothers and Dana both have the best work IMO- Mothers takes apts, and I know a few co-workers that have plenty of tats and they all go there.

I got mine from SkinCraft when I was 18. I liked it, but then again I was 18 and didn't really do any research on places to go. That was about 6 years ago so things may have changed since I was there.

My DH, brother and sister have all gone to ACME Tattoo which is in Clifton (near UC).They said it's the best in the city and they're all very happy with their tats.

Where I got mine was in Milford, which isn't one of your areas but I thought I'd throw it out there. I went to Queen City and went to Jake. A few family members of mine went there and I always liked his work which is why I went there.

I would say Dana's hands down and they have their shop in Northside which is not far from westside. That is where both myself and DH got our tatoos...
