We are finally back home after 4 days up north. DH's stepdad made it through surgery on Fri. and has been doing great since then. He was taken out of ICU today and was able to walk in his room last night.
MIL kept telling us not to come up because we needed to save for the baby but we decided to go up anyways so she wasn't alone. She was grateful we came about an hour after we got there because she was an absolute wreck. I was pretty proud of myself for being with her 24 hours a day and not going crazy.
How has everyone else been?
Re: Update
glad to hear DH's step dad is doing well. it must be a relief. and thats awesome that you were able to handle being with MIL during such a difficult time...
our house closing is cutting it really close to our current lease being up. if things don't happen on time, we will have to temporarily move in with one of our parents until we close. As much as i love my in-laws, it would definitely be a challenge to have to live with them for any block of time, so props to you for handling it so well!
lucky - So good to hear your DH's stepdad is doing better. I'm sure it meant the world to your MIL that you guys were there to be supportive, and I'm glad that things weren't too stressful on you while you were there.
megs - Sorry to hear your house closing is so close to your lease being up. That happened to me and DH too. We had to move in with a friend, put all our stuff in storage, then take it all out and move into the house a week later. It sucked but we managed. Vibes to you that you don't have to do that.
I guess my update is that I just finished running what was supposed to be a 4-person focus group at work. Only 1 person showed, so that was disappointing since it's for my own project. The weekend was good. Superbowl was lots of fun and we made an awesome 7-layer dip that was the hit of the party.
Best of luck to your FIL for a steady recovery.
We had a similar scare with my FIL a few years ago (although he only needed a stint) and it was a wake up call that caused him to completely change his lifestyle. Be encouraging to your FIL so that he can make some important changes to keep him healthy from here on out.
Thanks for the update Lucky! I'm glad things are on the up and up for him and that things went well overall. I'm sure your MIL really appreciated you guys being there.
Nothing new here to report!
