Hello Ladies! I recently married an Airman and now we're headed to Albuquerque. I am hoping you can recommend a good place to start looking for houses and maybe even a good Church! I'm pretty familiar with the Southwest (went to HS in el paso) but I feel like moving from our little Indiana apartment is going to give us culture shock! I can't wait! Thank you for whatever info you can offer!

Re: Good Ol' PCS
Hi! Welcome. I am pretty new to NM too. As far as where there are different opinions and views.
I live on the NW side and am building almost in RR. I have a great realtor I can recommend to you if you would like. You can PM me.
As far as churches go. I go to Sagebrush and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Their teaching a great, worship is amazing, and great sense of fellowship. They have a couple of campuses, people come from all parts of the city.
Thats all my input.

Welcome to ABQ.
You might want to start by looking at base housing. They just had of the local builders totally redo the Kirtland housing. So it's nice and new and just what you would get in a lot of teh new developments. But DO NOT take any of the old 1960s housing on base. My sister lived there in teh 70s and it sucked back then.
ABQ has lots of differnt types of neighborhoods. What type of neighborhood do you want - rural with farmland, urban where you can walk everywhere, tract housing, what age house, what type of amenities, etc.?
Thank you for the advice! We're not really particular about where we would like to live but in the right price range would be nice (about $700...we're hoping to save a bit of the BAH)
We've been told more than once that the new Kirtland housing is well worth it... at least when compared to the old stuff. His office probably isn't going to be on base though so I think we're really going to focus on the Westside. Your advice about crossing the bridges at the River is really helpful. We were assuming that getting everywhere was going to take no time at all!
Thank you for the recommendation on the Church as well! Do they have a website?
I am getting so excited about moving! All this snow is just killing me!
Thanks ladies!
I'm going to have a condo on the Westside listed by this weekend.

The drive across the river isn't *THAT* bad. A lot depends on what time you are trying to cross the river. And what neighborhood you live in. I have coworkers who live in Ventana Ranch, Taylor Ranch and up in Rio Rancho in the River's Edge communities.
We can't wait to see you out here and welcome you!

this
I used to drive 30 minutes a day to work and back. We're definitely not opposed to a commute so thank you for clarifying!
I'd love to see the listing for your condo! And thank you for the link to the church.
Do you ladies ever get together for drinks or hiking (or something)?
The realtor's taking the pics on Friday so I'll definitely let you know when it's up!
We attempt to GTG, usually drinks/dinner is involved. I'd love to start doing some hiking, so if anyone's interested, I'm in!

Thank you for the welcome!
And, Duffinger, I'm love hiking/outdoorsy stuff. Pair that with a picnic and I think you've got a deal! Hope your photo session went well!
