Polka Dot Theme Birthday

I am planning my daughter's 1st birthday party. It is going to be something very casual and mainly adults (approx 20 people).

It will be a lunch time party on a Saturday. I'm planning a Polka Dot theme party since my DD isn't really into anything at this age.

I'm going to buy pinks (and another color...haven't decided yet) paper lanterns that are round.  I'm also going to have a birthday banner that has the words Happy Birthday in individual round circles for each letter.

I would like to do round shaped food. Any suggestions?

Mini sliders

Fallafel balls on pita bread

Meatballs

Cucumber Salad

Cupcakes

 Anything else??

These cake bites would be fun. I made these with strawberry cake filling and they were a HUGE hit!
You could give them as a take-home treat if you are serving cupcakes for dessert (or you could have both).
Also, you don't have to put them on a stick if you don't want.

  • I JUST saw a Katie Brown episode about a polka dot theme party....I couldn't find a good all-encompassing link but you might want to google it!
  • Hi!  I would do.... BLT Stuffed Cherry Tomatoes  (can get you a recipe - but basically Bacon, Lettuce, Bits of Cheese with Mayo type of filling stuffed inside a hollowed out Cherry Tomato)

Smoked Salmon Balls on a Stick - take a Lollipop stick and put either Goat Cheese or Chive Cream Cheese Ball on the end - then wrap with Smoked Salmon  (I've had these before - they're awesome!)

    Melon Ball Salad

A Giant Cheese Ball with crackers - Joelen has some on her blog.... that look awesome

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers!

  • I make these little balled deserts I call Oreo trouffles that would look really cute dipped in colored chocolate to match your party colors!  (I just made red ones for a red/black/white themed cocktail party.)

Crush a whole container of oreos in a food processor.  Add 1 package of cream cheese and then roll into balls.  Cool in fridge for 30 min or so and then roll in melted chocolate.  They are so tasty!

I love your slider idea too and think you could make different types of mini sliders (burgers, chicken pesto, pulled pork).
