I just got back from lunch and received this e-mail from a guy in IT.
(background info, we were sitting across from each other in the kitchen and we kicked each others foot)
him: sorry for kicking you. I wasn?t trying to play footsies?.unless you were! lol
me: No, you?re fine, I forgot about it.
him: I figured. I am very foregettable!
normally, I just let stuff like this go but this isn't the first time I've gotten off hand comments. I really don't think anything of it but I'm trying not to come across the wrong way. Right now, I'm ignoring it. I think he just likes to be goofy but it's just coming across wrong to me, or maybe i"m just reading way too much into things.
Re: Would this bother you?
This isn't the first time something like this has happened with him. It's like he is fishing for compliments. He did something similar with my co-worker.
For now, I think you're handling it correctly. I wouldn't say anything back to the forgettable comment (unless he says something else, then I would say "Oh, I forgot about you." but I'm mean sometimes).
Hopefully he'll get over it quickly and move on to someone else if he's trying to get compliments. I have little patience for people like that.
I may drop a my husband next time he says something creepy like that. Like when he says unless you were (about the footsies), say definatley not, my husband would not be happy about that. Something so that he knows you are married and not into his "flirting" he seems to be kind of testing the waters to see if you are into it.
It would kind of bother me, in a what a creep kind of way.

I actually agree with you, Melanie. It sounds like he's trying to semi-flirt and is fishing for a compliment with the whole "I'm pretty forgettable."
I'd leave it. But yes, it would bother me because with an open-ended statement like that, I'd think he took my silence as "Yes, you are forgettable" but anything you say in response to that can't be good, you know?
