Tears totally swelled up in my eyes today when he told me the story about a patient.
All of you know DH started a new job - its a grant with UNC hospitals called STAR - for stroke prevention. DH has to go visit patients that have had minor/major strokes to get them to join in the research. Today he went to visit a gentleman that he had visited earlier. He was sitting there with his lunch unable to eat - his hands were shaking so bad he couldnt feed himself - and with the stroke he has an even harder time doing it alone (believe me I know I saw my Mother go through the same thing). DH looks to the nurses who are too busy gossiping instead of helping this man eat - he had no one there with him. So my DH fed this complete stranger who thanked him over and over again for helping him. I felt so bad for the patient b.c the nurses as caregivers should have been there to help him. I just smile b.c this is who he is. He told me he never gets to complete the questionaire b.c they all talk so much.
I just wanted to share a nice story with you all. We don't get to hear many stories of people just being plain old nice these days and I thought you guys would smile.
Re: Because this is who my DH is.
That's so sweet, your DH is a very kind man.
I had to feed my father many times after he had his stroke and that was a heart wrenching experience... feeding the man who had to feed me when *I* was a child. It was like a complete role reversal.
It's the sweet things like what your DH did today that restore my faith in humanity when it starts to falter
Awwww! You know what you have to do tonight, right?
I had to feed my Mom and help her do things I never thought I would have to. You never realize how hard that is until you have to do it yourself.
Thanks girls! He is so sweet - now if he could just rub off on me - lol.
I think you have an oral fixation.
He really does have a very kind soul. Always level headed, never raises his voice (which angers me) and is just so damn calm all the time. How can you always be so freaking happy?!?! LOL.
I have really bad gag reflexes so DH isn't too lucky in that department. He always laughs at me because I gag every morning when I brush my teeth.
I have a solution. There is this stuff I bought at a Slumber Party (sex party). Its like a gel you put on the back of your throat and I swear it works. I was the guinea pig at the party - put this stuff on my tounge waited a few minutes and the sales girl was like ok now stick your finger down your throat. No gagging. Try it.
One of my friends actually used to sell Pure Romance stuff, I'll have to ask her if she still sells it.
I love how I turned the post about your sweet DH into something about BJ's. As my family would say, "They can't take me anywhere".
Thank You Dear!
LOL I was thinking the same thing! But like Sky said this is why we lurve you!
what a great story! You got a good man there!
Lawren, way to change the tone of the post. . .that's why we love you!
Catching up on sports news...
Are you sure we arent married to the same person!?!? lol. That's my DH too, calm, calm, calm, never a stressful bone in his body. Ive never seen him flip out or fly off the handle, not even after 3 yrs together! Anyway that story was incredibly sweet, it makes me so mad to know those nurses are standing around doing nothing!!
