OK - so what else to we talk about on here these days...

Feeling the need to take a quick break from working this morning...

Do you guys celebrate Valentine's Day?

We do, not because its Valentine's Day, but becuase its out pseudo-anniversary.  It was the day took that big leap of faith, left my home and job, and showed up at my boyfriend's place to move in. The date was completely coincidental, I had got a job in his area exactly two weeks earlier and was to start work that Monday.

I'm not sure what exactly we're doing this year, we're not the best planners.  We tried to plan way back in December and had actually thought about taking a 6 day vacation using the long weekend - but alas the fabulous flight we found was cancelled and we couldn't find anything else that peaked our attention.  So we'll be celebrating in the cold at home.  Probably we'll have a nice dinner out just the two of us.  For his gift, I plan on re-newing his wine-of-the-month club that we had let lapse this past fall.

  • We're not big Valentine's people either.  I don't know that we've ever celebrated it.  This year I just assumed we weren't doing anything as my father in law is having some surgury that weekend, but my husband asked what I wanted to do and seemed dissapointed when I didn't have any requests.

So who knows... maybe we'll have a hot date... though that would be very un-us.

  • it's our anniversary next wednesday but I have to be in Toronto setting up for the show.  So we are celebrating this weekend.  This of course all depends on how much sewing I still have to do.  I am going to work my but off for the rest of this week and hopefully it will give us a day we can go out on a date.

  • I'm actually going to a bridal shower that afternoon for my SIL. The groom's family has invited us all over for dinner afterwards, so we may do that. Tres romantique eh? We don't usually do much... so I'm not bothered by it, does seem like a random way to spend Valentine's day though!
  • We do not celebrate V-day, we think it is an overrated day.  This year we are going for dinner on the Saturday night as it will be our last night before baby #2 arrives and we have not had a "Date" night in forever.  So as long as baby holds on then we are going out, but no gifts or anything like that.

  • We do, but nothing BIG...

We normally go out to dinner to a place we don't do often, i.e. the keg etc. and exchange a little something. Last year DH got me flowers and I got him his cologne which was running out...max $50.00 spent.

Now that's just a "US" thing..we annualy go to a banquet hall that throws a v-day party. Full sit down dinner, d.j, open bar for $70/pp. My entire family goes and have been doing so for the last 10 years straight. I'm so excited, this time we have Mia there and I'm already planning her outfit! hahah

Due to funds being tight this year - we're only doing the family dinner. But maybe I'll get DH a card...a daddy one!

  • Apparently there is a restaurant in Toronto that is promoting that couples can have sex in their bathrooms. Indifferent
  • We don't celebrate Vday. It's overrated, and so commercialized. We actually have some friends coming in from out of town, so we'll probably just have fondue dinner or something and chill out.

If anything, we would celebrate our 2yrs of being in our house as we got the keys Feb 15th :)

  • Nope, we don't celebrate it at all. Last year DH had his work buddy over to play video games. This year we'll be hanging out at home -- just another Sunday.

  • We don't generally make a big deal out of it.

I think this year he is going to make me dinner and then we will either go out to see "When In Rome" or rent "The Time Travellers Wife".  Pretty low key.

  • I forgot to add that sometimes we go to an annual party my IL's have.  With a last name like Love you kind of have to celebrate Valentines Day.

  • We don't do anything big, usually just a card and a small gift (usually something a bit silly) and a nice dinner with champagne. This year we're having a nice dinner on Saturday because we're picking up our puppy on Sunday!
  • Ok - so I may have spoke too soon, but I did agree to it.  We're now going out for dinner Sunday night with FIL and Step-MIL.  We haven't seen them in a few weeks and they invited, so I couldn't say no...

I reminded myself that we also have a dinner out planned the following weekend - and really, we don't have much else holding us back to going out another night.  Figure I'll try find a way to spend most of Sunday in bed Wink

  • Wow that's quite the anniversary!

We don't typically celebrate V-Day. This year we're at FI's parents because it's a 4 day weekend. Those are the only weekends we make the 6 hour drive up to see them.

I am giving him a photobook of boudoir photos I did for him, and he is apparently getting me a usb stick for my digital frame I got from my parents for my birthday.

  • I am not sure what we're doing. DH bought me something which is exciting but he told me it's nothing too exciting... We have a low budget.  Actually, on that note I think I'm making us a gourmet dinner at home.  Menu to be decided.

  • We always do something for Valentines Day minus the cheesieness. No red and pink cards, no chocolate, etc.

We typically use it as an excuse to go out for a nicer dinner than usual. Last couple years we went to Pad Thai on Whyte Ave and its amazing but this year we are going to The Keg as we have a gift card. Then we usually go for gelato or a fancy coffee drink or something like that.

  • OK - not sure what happened there... whatever, I was just trying to let funkatronjive know that I sent her a message with the info on the wine club.
