Missed Period with Loestrin

Has anyone else experienced a missed period while taking Loestrin 24 FE birth control pills? I just finished up my second month and had NOTHING. I am usually regular and so this has me worried a little. I don't think its possible for me to be pregnant but still I have heard that has happened to others but I wanted to get your opinions.

I know I sound like a 16 year old but it freaks me out a tiny bit to go and buy a pregnancy test! Its kinda how I first felt about buying pads/tampons! haha.

I took Loestrin and I never missed a period; however, i was only only them for maybe 2 months at a time (they made me really sick and I also had bad mood swings so I had to stop taking them). When I stopped, it took me about 2 months to actually ovulate so I think the pills, if taken correct, are pretty effective for pregnancy prevention. Did you miss pills? When I stopped taking them, it was in the middle of a cycle and it prolonged my cycle a bit.

The only thing I did that was abnormal was I started the pack late. But only a day late. I filled it Monday night and I usually start taking them on a Sunday morning. Ugh.....i'm making myself sick about it!

I went from the patch to Loestrin and it took me three months to have a cycle. POAS if you are late and let your Dr know what is going on.

I missed a period or 2 while on Loestrin. The periods I missed were right around my wedding, so I attributed it stress. BUT, I did take a pregnancy test to be sure. Didn't want to drown a baby in alcohol while in Jamaica for our Honeymoon!

When I went on loestrin 24 I didn't have my period either. At my 3 month check up after being switched to it, I mentioned it to my Dr and she just told me to not take the last 3 pills. So I only took the 3 full weeks of pills and nothing the last week and I still only had my period for like 2 days and it hardly was even there. So what you are describing doesn't sound unusual to me.

My sister and i are both on Loesttrin (not the 24 one tho) and while my peridos are very short/light...my sister, for at least the first couple months, did not have one at all.

Ok two things...I called my doc just to make sure and they said that not having a period is one of the "benefits" of the loestrin.....haha I don't know about benefit more like scare tactic. But either way, all is good and i'm not freaked. And the second thing is, I know I am new to all of this but you guys have a serious love going on for abbreviations! What does POAS mean?!

I was put on Loestrin 24 three years ago and I haven't had a period since starting it. It's very nice.

I am experiencing the same exact thing I could have written your post. Going on my second month with no period and I always had periods while on Yasmin. I have to pick up a prescription, my doctor only gave me a couple months as a trial run to see how I felt. I am also going to discuss it with her and see her take on it.

I was on Loestrin for 3 years and only got my period maybe 3 times that whole time...I've asked 3 Dr's and all said it was a normal and good side effect of Loestrin. I just went off of it 3 weeks ago so I'm not looking forward to getting one after this long

I recently switched from Yaz to Loestrin FE 24 (finishing up my 3rd pack) I was fine on Yaz but because of the recent news my doc thought I should try out Loestrin FE 24. Now my periods are more like spottings that last about 2-3 days.

I had the same experience. I was on the generic of Loestrin for 8 months, and only had maybe 4 periods during that time. I'm TERRIFIED of getting pregnant; I have nightmares on a regular basis, so needless to say I was freaked. I went to see a new gyno after my husband and I got married and we moved to a different state, and she prescribed Aviane since I liked Loestrin so much (minus the missed periods). I've been on it for two months and just got my second period today, so I really like it. (Plus my husband said it makes my boobs even bigger than the last pill!) It's a cheap generic, but worth asking your doctor about. The reason my gyno said it might be better is because it contains a different progesterone than Loestrin. So far it seems to be giving me periods every month with no fail!
