Watching CNN right now and Campbell Brown is saying that she is "tired of the sexism". Interesting enough she is accusing the McCain campaign of perpetuating it. Essentially she was ranting about the McCain campaign limiting reporters involvement in Palin's discussions today with foreign dignataries. She was implying that by the McCain campaign limiting her exposure they are treating her differently. Some of Brown's statements include: Sarah Palin has just enough right to be a real candidate in the race as the men do so let her. She is not a delicate flower that will wilt. She is from Alaska for goodness sake, she is strong. Let her show her stuff.
Re: Is this sexist?
You mean the strong chivalrous men protecting the little lady from the big bad media?
You betcha.
Yup.
Sexism isn't just mistreatment of someone because of their gender...it's this ridiculous kind of "protection" too. Hey, I'm all for chivalry, but acting like a woman is incapable of doing something herself because you're "protecting" her is just as sexist...
I agree with Campbell. I want to learn more about Sarah Palin the candidate. And I want it from her. Not bloggers. Not reporters. Not from one canned speech. Not from her handlers. Her.
