Planet fitness

does anyone belong to planet fitness? I'm thinking of joining the Greece location. DH and I are on a budget so I don't want to pay RAC prices or anything, but I kind of want to join a gym to start going to classes!

Any experience with them? Do they offer classes and how are they? Tell me what you think!

 TIA!

Re: Planet fitness

  • The one I belong to near me doesn't offer classes, just weights and cardio.
  • I've been to a few in this area and none of them offer classes, which is the biggest drawback for me.  I wish there was a golds closer to me because the prices are the same and the golds offers classes for that price.  There's just tanning and machines at the ones I've been to.

  • Boo! :( I guess I'll have to keep looking for a good priced one. Someone recommended Xtreme fitness in Greece to me as well. I've looked on their site and they have classes and full gym membership for $25/month (current special). I may try that one. I think they even have a pass for just classes too....I'll have to look into it a little more.

I can do all the cardio at my house. I want something that holds me accountable for going and get my butt moving a little more.

     Thanks for the info girls!

  • Check and see if the Parks and Recs department has classes you can take.  There won't be as much of a variety and the classes may only run for 6 weeks at a time or something.  But it might be a good way to try different classes and see what you like.  I know Victor has some exercise classes that you just go to the high school for or you can take them at the Iron Butterfly.  There is usually a fee but it may be cheaper than paying for a whole membership just for classes.  Also, try getting a DVD to do at home.  The girls on the H&F board have lots of recommendations.  I've been doing Pilates at home and loving it.

  • I used to go too because of the price, but switched to Best Fitness for the classes. I was getting bored since i can't run outside right now. Do you have a BF by you?
  • I signed up for PF in Henrietta because it's really convenient to both my home and work.  It doesn't offer classes, it's just cardio/weight machines.  I will say that it is one of the cleaner, brighter, friendlier gyms I've ever been to!  I used to go to the RAC, which I hated, and while I wish they offered classes I'm not going to complain for $10/month.
