I remember last week how Christine got to talking about a gift that she gets to choose from for her 5-year work anniversary and how jealous I was. I have always known there is major favoritism at my job, and not towards me. I am the ONLY female that works here and have been 90% of the time I have been here. Long story short, I get pooped on all the time.
Sunday was my 10-year anniversary w/ this company. Ten years! I haven't gotten anything. No thank you, let me take you out to lunch, here's a gift card. Nothing. It bothers me b/c when any of the other guys here hit their work anniversaries, the boss took them and a few other people to lunch to celebrate. I can't even get a thanks. Its so depressing. In the back of my mind I guess I kinda expected it, but a small part of me was hoping that my boss would come through. I work 10 hours a day, plenty of weekends, and do the work of 5 different people.
I need cheering up. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but if I hadn't seen so many of the guys here getting little perks like that, I wouldn't feel so slighted. Sigh.
Re: About that work anniversary...
It would be one thing if they didn't do it for anyone, but to see them do something for so many others, but not you... grrr!
If it were me I would probably do something totally passive aggressive, like invite them all to lunch (everybody buys their own) to "celebrate" the 10 years they've been your co-workers.
Or have DH send you flowers or something for it.
I don't think I could let it slide. Ten years is a big deal.
Aw
. Congrats on your 10 Year Anniversary and that *really* sucks about your company/boss/coworkers don't do anything to acknowledge it. Maybe you can talk to HR or something about how you're being unfairly treated? Or maybe make (or buy) some goodies (cookies, cupcakes, whatever you like!) to bring to the office and when people ask what they're for say it's to celebrate your 10 yr. It'll at least get people thinking about it and most likely they'll take a treat and say congrats.
Hope you have a better day and keep your head held high! 10 years is nothing to sneeze at!

I wish I COULD talk to someone in HR that would care. That would be my boss. We are a small company, so he handles most of that kind of stuff. Which is why, I feel, that I get passed over for so many things. Some days this place isn't worth the aggravation. Its always something. I know for sure the other main office worker knows about my anniversary b/c he has said something to me about it. Too bad the person that SHOULD care, doesn't. I have considered being a brat and mentioning something in passing, but I know the kind of argument that will lead to. I will get told that I feel "entitled" (my boss is on a kick w/ that word lately) to have something done for me and I should just be grateful to work here. Blah!
Thanks for the kind words, ladies. In the grand scheme of things, its nice to know that I'm not the only person that thinks its a big deal.
