So, a few things....the sonic will be in wallingford...they've added so many things the past few years! and, my mother grew up in middletown, and still works there...the restaurants there are amazing!!

am i correct that you went to sandals antigua? we JUST booked about a half hour ago..we found a direct flight out of JFK that was cheaper than any of the other flights we were seeing, so we couldnt say no! We booked a honeymoon garden of eden deluxe...have any advice?

  • hey!

sonic will be on route 5? the traffic is bad enough around there already lol itll be worth i bet. i cant wait to try it. let me know when it opens!

my entire family is from middletown, born and raised. i wonder if they know your mom or vice versa.

yea sandals was awesome. we also flew direct out of jfk. its a 4 hr flight. i think we originally booked the same room as you guys or maybe it was a honeymoon grand lux. either way we ended up getting upgraded free of charge to a room in the med village. we had a concierge room on the 7 floor. it was awesome. honestly the whole resort was great so even if you dont get an upgrade, youll love it. food wise, we loved the pizza at marios, lunch at barefoot and lunch or dinner at cricketers pub. ok corral (mexican) has great steak. the japanese place was pretty good. the bayside rest we were not fans of.  the italian place (forgot the name) was good for dinner, they serve breakfast buffet daily as well. its much better than the bayside rest buffet. we were unable to get reservations at Eleanor's, not sure how that place is.

we split our time between the beach and the main pool. main pool has a great swim up bar, ask them for a chocolate monkey. yum i drank those all week. im pretty sure you can get chocolate monkeys at any of the bars on the resort but theres a bartender named chantel at the main pool that makes them the best.

excursions: we booked them thru the resort. island routes is the tour company name i think. we did the zip line canopy tour (awesome!) we also booked the barbuda cruise tour. that one was ehh, expensive and not really worth the money. we did snorkling that the resort offers, it was ok. they dont take you out very far and also not for long so you dont see much. sandals includes that so at least you dont have to pay for a crappy excursion lol

make sure your DH has shoes to wear for dinner. they dont allow sandals or flip flops on men for dinner unless you go to the pub (no dress code there) we had to go into st john (capital of antigua) to buy shoes for DH so we could get into the rest. not a huge deal. we took a cab and walked around for a few hours, had some drinks then took a cab home. its where the cruise ships come in so its safe and theres shopping and bars right there.

i cant think of anything else at the moment. let me know if you have any questions. we loved it! we would def go back someday.

  • thanks for the info! and thanks for the heads up about shoes for DH. I definately want to do the canopy tour, and we were thinking about the barbuda tour...thanks for the heads up!

I'm thinking that there might be a good chance that our families might know each other...I worked in the town hall in middletown with my mother and aunt for about 4 years, and everyone seems to know everyone...
