Fondue

I am thinking about doing fondue this weekend.  We received a fondue pot for our wedding and haven't used it yet.  I can't decide on what I should make.  I want to make a meal out of it.

Some added info...I am thinking about making Peanut Butter Whoopie Pies (recipe from Christine's blog) for dessert.  Also hubby isn't a big fan of fruit, so dipping items for the chocolate may be limited.

Re: Fondue

  • New to the board here, but big on fondue! We do a huge fondue dinner once a year and do it the Swiss way: salad, traditional cheese fondue (with Gruyere and Emmenthaler) & several artisan breads, and choclate for dessert. I usually do a mixed greens salad w/ pears and walnuts, 2-3 breads with the fondue, and dark & milk chocolate for dessert (you can get some really good bars to break into pieces at Trader Joes).  And, wine. Lots of wine!

But, if you made peanut butter whoopie pies, I'd eat those for sure!  Now I want to find that recipe.  I personally would skip the chocolate fondue because the cheese is enough work on its own.

  • Go to the library and get a fondue cook book. I did a cheddar curry fondue once and we dipped in lamb and chicken. I would dip chicken in a traditional swiss style fondue.
  • Julie- I voted for chocalte... there so much more you can dip besides fruit... Pretzels, marshmallows, graham crackers... ok now I wanna come over and try it for myslef :)
