Restaurant reivews for an out of towner please!

Hi Ladies,

I am trying to make a reservation for my boss in NYC on Monday.  Can you tell me if you have been to either restaurant and what you think?

Insieme on 7th Ave

or

Lattanzi on W. 46th St.

Thanks so much!

Amanda

  • It might be best to just check out the restaurants on yelp.com or menupages.com for a wide range of reviews. I'm not familiar with either of those....anyone else been there?

  • I haven't been to either, but I do have the 2010 Zagat guide if that helps:

Insieme - "Modern Italian meets traditional" under Chef Canora's distincitive aegis at this Times Square "beacon of sophistication", where "refined" cuisine and "gracious" service validate the "high-end" pricing; while quibblers debate whether the "stark white decor" is glamerous" or "off-putting", in truth it's "all about the food" here.

Lattanzi - Sure, this "reliable" restaurant row Italian delivers "great performances" pre-theater, but insiders say it's even better after 8 when "authentic Roman-Jewish"dishes (including its signature fried artichokes") are available; other pluses include a pretty garden and smooth service; as for the cost, "pricey is the word".

  • I I haven't been to Lattanzi, but Insieme was pretty good. It's next to the old Lehman/new Barclay's building in midtown and they get a lot of finance/business dinners there, so if that's the ambiance you are going for.

The food itself was interesting. The left side of the menu had classic italian dishes and the right side are innovative/modern twists on italian cooking. It was one of the better business dinner restaurants I attended. Very good and very expensive wine selection though.
