Geez, here is another post about a boss-vent from me
(long!)
A few weeks ago, I asked my boss if I could work from home for a few hours the next morning because I had a dr's appointment at 11:20am, up in Concord. I work about 20 minutes south of Concord, and live in Concord, so to drive in to work, then go back to Concord for my appt, then go back to work, THEN drive back to concord to go home at the end of the day, that's a lot of trips. I have the sort of job where I can very easily work from anywhere if I have my laptop. It's sort of an unstated thing that it's OK to work from home on occasion if you have to, like if your kid(s) is sick. I've been at my company almost 3 yrs and this is the SECOND time I have ever made such a request. I didnt think anything of it but she semi-chewed me out, first off for making an appointment for "the middle of the day" and second of all, for asking to work from home, and 'what if people asked where you are, and oh, I bet they will say 'Gee, that's nice, I wish I worked for you!' and what am I going to tell them, that you're working from home because it was CONVENIENT for you??' Then she was like, 'this isnt the touchy feeling family owned company anymore." She ended it by saying "I hate to say NO, but.. you know." I felt really embarrassed, and frankly, kind of mad. So, if I had a child and my child was sick, that would have been OK to work from home, but something like my situation, no good? I felt like I couldnt be trusted to do my work from home, like I have to be supervised? Anyway it just irritated me because I feel that i dont have a slacker reputation or anything, im responsible with these types of things... If I am sick, I ALWAYS work from home instead of just being sick and not making contact with the office. Well what made me feel kind of PO'ed today was that my boss was like, oh I have a dentist appointment at 11:30. Wait, didnt she yell at ME for making an appt for the "middle of the day" ?? What made it worse is that she left at 11 and didnt come back until 2! And, she constantly leaves early, for the dumbest reasons. If her daughter is in town from college, she leaves early constantly. A few weeks ago she left every day at like 4pm, saying 'oh, i have people coming to remodel my bathroom, i have to go home and supervise them.' It just peeves me off, like, 'do as I say, not as I do' ?? ![]()
Re: Boss vent!
I am prolly late on this, but Poop on her head! I can't STAND feeling like a child when we are 20 something. (or older :-) ) I feel like this needs a pic.
ROFL!!!!
That is a fantastic way to go about it!!!! I am so going to use this in the future
