mass connector

Good morning all,

My family and I are from boston but moved abroad a few years ago and are coming back in the summer. We may not be working when we arrive so we still need to organize health insurance, Does anyone have any experience with the commonwealth care program and how it works/how long it takes to set up?

Re: mass connector

  • Sorry, I can't offer any advice but I wanted to say good luck on the move! I know international moving is stressful, my bil and sil just went through it twice. Where are you living abroad?

  • You can set up insurance within a week--its not hard. Depending on your income, you may be eligible for a variety of different programs. If you are unemployed, you will be eligible for the most affordable, state-subsidized programs (Commonwealth Care). The benefit of health reform in the state was that these programs are far better than they used to be. Previously, your most affordable options were also the worst. Now, you will likely have decent coverage until your family has employer health plans.

     Go to this website: /www.mahealthconnector.org

There you can take their eligibility survey and it will point you in the right direction. Good luck with your move!
