How much is a vet visit?

So, just wondering what a vet visit $$ as I think we need to take the pooch to see the vet.  I don't know if she tripped on the ice out back or had a semi-stroke or what, but her hind quarters are not functioning right (aka-her back leg no one side)...

DH says to wait and see if her legs improve-like she might have just tripped, but I'm not so sure.  I know she's old, but I'm not ready for this.  She 'managed' fine to come out to the kitchen for a treat and is better walking on carpet than a smooth surface-traction?

I'm considering making an appt to take her, but want to be prepared for the possible $ (sans shots, prescriptions, etc...).

TIA!

Re: How much is a vet visit?

  • When I take Carter for something like that (in his case, usually b/c he's barfing) it runs us about $65 for the actual visit.

  • I would say around $60.  If they have to keep her for a day or night they'll charge you a vet boarding fee on top of that.

Our visits with Miller always end up between $100 and $200, but that usually involves blood work and/or her glucose curve.

  • I agree, something in the $60+/- range probably.  If they run any tests or give prescriptions the price will go up.  Maybe arthritis is the culprit?

  • My vet is $75 for the visit, then up, up, up from there.
  • Not sure arthritis would hit her so fast, but my sis said her symptoms are similar to what her dog had before he passed away...

    Thanks ladies!

  • When Nika hurt her leg, we had the normal vet visit cost (about $50) plus "doggie" advil...which I think was about $10.

  • At my office it is $62 just to see the vet.  X-rays (which seems like something they might wanna do with your pup) can run $150+

  • If you are going to a new vet, look for online coupons.  Sometimes they have a first time deal.
