TMI: NuvaRing users, come in
I just started using Nuva Ring a few days ago. I was reading all of the information that came with it and was wondering if your ring has ever come out accidentally.
The pamphlet says it could come out when you're having a BM.... now everytime I go #2 I'm paranoid that it will come out in the toilet. Is that dumb?? I also remember on the real housewives of atlanta (I know, completely reliable resource), Lisa said once when she had a 'crazy' night with her husband that she found her ring on the floor the next morning.
Just wondering if this has happened to anyone.
Re: TMI: NuvaRing users, come in
I've never had any issues. You would much have to be constipated to being bearing down so hard that you forced out the ring.
If you have any doubts, just check.
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
Yes, mine did come out during sex quite frequently, it would get stuck on DH's penis - I usually take it out now just prior to sex, and rinse it off and put it back in immediately afterwards. You can have your ring out for up to 3 hours and be protected, but no more than that. I must have a short vaginal canal, because it also hurts a bit if I leave my ring in during sex.
But that is the ONLY time that it ever comes out without me taking it out. When I do take it out, I really have to, er, reach way up in there and use my middle finger like a hook to get it out.........it sets on that ledge-like area (I know it has a name, but it's early and I don't remember what it is), and it's in there really snug. I can't imagine it ever coming out during a BM, no matter how hard I strained.
As a PP said, you can take it out for up to three hours for sex. Just make sure to rinse it off with lukewarm water when you're done. I had to do that when I was on that BC (stopped using it because it gave me crazy mood swings).
Never had a problem with it coming out from #2, though I have to admit I shared the same paranoia. The routine was go, wash hands, check for ring, wash hands again.
I have been on the ring for over 2 years and it has never, ever fallen out. I have heard of it coming out during sex or something, but never in the toilet.
