Do you like Cold Stone ice cream?
I am still trying to figure out where to get my DD's birthday cake for her 3rd bday...
One of the places I can get a Dora theme cake is Cold Stone. I am not much of an ice cream person, and personally I don't really care, but I have heard a lot of people say they hate Cold Stone's ice cream (like it's too rich).
What are your thoughts? I think it might be super expensive, so unless it's awesome, I will just do a bakery cake.
Re: Do you like Cold Stone ice cream?
I love it. It is rich but it is the best tasting and smoothest, IMO. We have gotten the birthday cake batter with red velvet and having the cake makes the ice cream much less rich, IMO.It's 2 layers of cake and 2 layers of ice cream...not an entire cake of ice cream like the carvel ones. That makes it a lot better I think.
Friends have raved over the cakes...they're really good!
I've never had Cold Stone's Ice Cream cakes so I can't comment on that. DH would eat Carvel Ice Cream cakes until he's blue in the face if he could but my favorite store Ice Cream cake is a place in Webster called the Goode Shoppe. It's on Route 250 right near 104. Their Ice Cream Cakes are the best in my opinion and I don't think too outrageous in price.
I have a recipe for an Oreo Cookie Ice Cream cake I can send to you if you want to make one at home. Trust me, this one is really really easy and so yummy.
I LOVE coldstone (like it's seriously an addiction!) But, my mom got an ice cream cake from there for my bday and I thought it was just ok.
Odd girl out. I absolutely hate cold stone and I am a huuuuge ice cream holic. I think their ice cream tastes like chemicals. It just has this very fake taste and I do not enjoy and turn it down each and every time. blech.
For ice cream cakes, Friendlys has awesome cakes.
I'm with the PP!! I'm super sensitive to smells, and I swear I can smell (and taste!) the chemicals in the ice cream at the Cold Stone by us. It is just off. Not a fan of their ice cream at all, way overpriced for the product IMHO.
I'd stick with something homemade, I don't think you can go wrong there!
I love CS and their cakes are really good, but outrageously expensive. We splurged on a cake for BIL's 30th birthday last year. If we were just in charge of bringing the cake, I'd consider footing the bill for another cake from them, but if I was throwing a party, I'd stick with Wegmans or a local ice cream place. For DS's 1st birthday, I couldn't find a cake in the Wegmans book that I liked so the bakery manager told me to just bring in a photo of something I wanted and they would try and create it. I had no idea they would do custom cakes. It turned out fabulous. (Jungle themed cake)
LauraBeth - Thanks for the rec! We live in Webster - I will have to check out the Goode shop - Is is on 250? Like on the same side as Dunkin Donuts? Or near the cleaners? I've never seen it (then again, I've never specifically looked for it either).
Its right around the Dunkin Donuts but on the other side of 250. We've been getting ice cream cakes from there as long as I can remember (my grandma found it years ago). THE best in my opinion.
